She designed Network Rail Infrastructure Projects’ Biodiversity Net Positive procedure, and led a 2-year UK wide pilot of this procedure that involved extensive engagement with a range of stakeholders. Julia is now leading the roll-out of Net Positive for Network Rail Infrastructure Projects, as well as designing and implementing Net Gain for various developments. Julia is a Technical Advisor for the Institute of Environment and Development, a Visiting Researcher for Oxford University and a member of the Valuing Nature Partnership’s Business Interest Group. Michael Beutler joined Kering as the Director of Sustainability Operations in September 2011. Prior to Kering, Michael served in senior positions at SAP, PwC, DHL and Ford. During his tenure at Kering, Michael has been integral to operationalising Kering’s comprehensive sustainability strategy. He leads a team to implement cross-cutting innovative approaches to help manage and reduce the environmental impacts from Kering’s Luxury and Sport & Lifestyle brands. This includes being responsible for developing and implementing the Environmental Profit & Loss Accounts (EP&L) at Kering. Claudine Blamey is Head of Sustainability and Stewardship at The Crown Estate. She is also Chair of the Institute of Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability (ICRS), and a Board member of BITC. Claudine was previously a Board member of the UK Green Building Council (UKGBC) and Chair of its Policy and Communications Committee. Before joining The Crown Estate, Claudine was Head of Sustainability at SEGRO and before that Director of Corporate Responsibility at British Land. Claudine has a Masters Degree in Environmental Management and Legislation from Brunel University and a BSc Honours Degree in Environmental Control from Greenwich University. After serving in the Army for thirteen years, Richard began his commercial career at Reuters initially running Lipper’s European data operations before moving to the US to take over global product development and delivery. He then moved on to become Chief Operating Office at Citywire where he spent five years helping grow a forward thinking and innovative, financial media business. As Operations Director for Centaur Media plc he was initially responsible for the Legal and Financial divisions before taking over the operational leadership for Business Publishing, where he led the re-branding and relaunches of numerous magazines and digital propositions. Phil founded Consciam in 2015 to enable organisations to better understand and reduce environmental impacts and risk, and to explore and adopt innovative sustainability solutions. Consciam has delivered projects for clients including businesses, NGO’s and local government, on topics such as net positive/net impact strategies, sustainability impact measurement and reduction, policy development and review, and the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Prior to Consciam, Phil was Head of Environmental Sustainability for Capgemini UK Ltd, where he was a founder-member of the Forum for the Future led Net Positive Group. Wijnand is a partner and senior consultant at CREM, a Netherlands based consultancy in the field of sustainable development. Wijnand has been working with CREM since 1993 and has specialised in the areas of Corporate Social Responsibility, Natural Capital / Business & Biodiversity, sustainable sourcing & international supply chains and Socially Responsible Investment. Together with the Dutch Association of Investors for Sustainable Development (VBDO), he worked on the development of the Guide on ‘Natural Capital & Financial Institutions’. Since 2015, has worked with ASN Bank on the development of their Biodiversity objective and the assessment of the Bank’s biodiversity footprint. Steve joined the International Union for the Conservation of Nature in 2013, where he leads IUCN’s work related to the mitigation hierarchy and Net Positive Impact. He is also leading the IFC funding Natural Capital – Colombia Country Pilot. He led the development of the IUCN policy on Biodiversity Offsets and coordinated the IUCN Niger Delta Panel. Prior to IUCN, Steve work for Conservation International. He has given over 50 formal presentations in English and Spanish on topics including biodiversity conservation, biodiversity offsets, ecotourism, regional and strategic planning, sustainable tourism best practices, value chain analysis, and natural resources policy.

Julia has worked on business and biodiversity initiatives for 20 years. Mark Gough is the Executive Director of the Natural Capital Coalition, and led the collaboration that delivered the Natural Capital Protocol, a standardised global framework for including natural capital in decision making. Mark previously worked for The Crown Estate, helping to develop its integrated vision and approach to value measurement. Mark is a Director of the Aldersgate Group, which brings together business, politics and civil society to drive action for a sustainable economy, and has sat on a number of national and international committees, including the Steering Committee of the United Nations CEO Water Mandate and the Board of the Alliance for Water Stewardship.

Andy has worked for Nestle UK&I for over 20 years, primarily in operational and engineering roles. Prior to taking on his current role, he led the development and implementation of NUK&Is ‘Lighthouse’ environmental sustainability strategy at its Fawdon site in Newcastle Upon Tyne. Andy is both a chartered engineer (IET) and chartered environmentalist (IEMA) and is focussed on bringing together the engineering expertise, operational experience and environmental insights of the organisation alongside collaborative partnerships with academia and key delivery partners to develop and implement robust and effective sustainability programmes.

Christian Heller is heading BASF’s Value-to-Society program, based in the corporate strategy department. With a strong background in human rights and labour standards, Christian has had positions in BASF’s human resources, EHS, and communications teams. Beside developing and implementing programs on human and labour rights, he contributed to the development of BASF’s corporate strategy and represented BASF in networks such as UN Global Compact, Global Business Initiative on Human Rights, CSR Europe and econsense. Christian holds a degree in philosophy.

Dr Stephanie Hime is the Managing Director of Little Blue Research, overseeing the development and implementation of projects. She has worked in social, environmental valuation and sustainability for more than ten years. She is on the Advisory Panel of the Natural Capital Coalition, one of the authors of the Natural Capital Protocol and a member of both the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA) and the Social Value Network. Before starting her own company she led KPMG’s UK sustainability services team work on True Value (a method to measure social, environmental and economic impact).

As Head of Sustainable Business, Ben helps leading companies go further and faster. He does this by helping them to develop sustainability strategies and tackle complex sustainability challenges. After studying Politics and then Philosophy at Edinburgh, Ben trained as an Organisation Development consultant at Ashridge Business School, where he worked with clients such as Novartis and the NHS. He then worked as an internal consultant at HBOS at a time of unprecedented change. Ben is also a member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.

Bernard Mathieu is Senior Vice-President Sustainable Development at LafargeHolcim, the world’s largest building materials company. Bernard has 20 years of experience in cement, concrete and aggregates businesses - in various positions: technical marketing, environmental coordination, mergers and acquisitions and sustainable development, within HeidelbergCement and LafargeHolcim. Bernard also held various positions amongst national and European business associations and as lecturer for universities in Brussels and Liege (Belgium). Bernard is chemical engineer from the University of Liege (Belgium) and holds a Management Degree from the ICHEC Business School in Brussels (Belgium).

Alan is a partner in PwC and he heads up sustainability, non-financial reporting and impact measurement for PwC UK. He has extensive experience of working with companies to help them understand and measure the broader impacts associated with their business and has been instrumental in developing PwC’s Total Impact Measurement and Management (TIMM) offering. He has worked with many leading global companies helping them to measure their impacts and report on them. Alan also has extensive knowledge of the Sustainable Development Goals and how they can be a driver of opportunity for organisations and helped develop the PwC SDG Analyser tool.

Neil Stevenson has nearly 20 years of experience in the accounting and finance sectors. At the IIRC, he leads on developing a strong global brand for Integrated Reporting and key institutional relationships. Neil was involved in the communications group that established the <IR> brand in 2010 and subsequently served on the IIRC Working Group which provided guidance on the development of the IIRC as a global organization and the International <IR> Framework. Neil has previously worked in senior marketing and brand roles at ACCA and PwC, with responsibilities including oversight of policy and thought leadership. He was educated at the Universities of Cambridge and Leeds and is a Fellow of CIM.

Jeremy is Chief Executive of Social Value International and Social Value UK, which are membership networks for those interested in measuring, managing and accounting for their social value, united by a common vision of changing the way the world accounts for value. He is also a director of the FRC Group (a social business based in Liverpool), a member of the IRIS advisory committee, a contributor to the Social Stock Exchange admissions panel, on the ICAEW Assurance Panel, and a member of the Social Impact Measurement Sub-group of GECES for the EU.

Richard joined ICAEW in 2005 and leads the organisation’s thought leadership and engagement programme in sustainability. He was a co-convenor of the Finance Innovation Lab, a co-founder of AuditFutures and led on establishing the Natural Capital Coalition. He was a member of the FTSE4Good Policy Committee, and sits on the Climate Disclosure Standards Board Technical Working Group and is a Board member of Social Value UK. Richard began his career at the Bank of England, and has also worked for Accenture and N M Rothschild & Sons.

James is a Director at Sustain Value, a network based consultancy he established in 2011 to help businesses incorporate natural and social capital in decision-making and reporting. He is on the Natural Capital Coalition Advisory Panel and led the EU B@B Natural Capital Accounting for Business workstream. He was a lead author for the Natural Capital Protocol, A4S’s Natural and Social Capital Accounting Guide for Finance and WBCSD’s Guide to Water Valuation and Guide to Corporate Ecosystem Valuation. He has 25 years consulting experience covering environmental and social impacts and valuation, net impact assessments, biodiversity offsetting, SDGs and integrated value reporting - for businesses, banks, governments and insurance firms.

ClimateCare is a certified B Corporation with a target to improve 20 million lives and cut 20 million tonnes of CO2 by 2020. Rob joined ClimateCare in 2007 and oversees its partnership programmes - engaging with corporates, governments and entrepreneurs to meet their business, environmental and social development goals. He ensures that ClimateCare programmes work for all partners, are outcome-focused and deliver measurable results for business, people and the environment. Rob is also chair of the International Carbon Reduction and Offset Alliance (ICROA).

Kerry ten Kate directs Forest Trends’ Business and Biodiversity Offsets Programme (BBOP): 80 companies, banks, government agencies and NGOs working for a net gain of biodiversity. She also heads Forest Trends’ biodiversity initiative, advising governments, companies and banks planning for ‘Net Positive’ impacts on biodiversity. Kerry served on the Secretariat of the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development in 1992 (the “Rio Earth Summit”), and has written extensively for Science and International Affairs, broadcast for BBC Radio 4 and the World Service, and served on the UK’s Natural Capital Committee.

Eva leads the WBCSD’s work on natural capital measurement and valuation in business, as well as ecosystem management. She led the WBCSD’s consortium that developed the Natural Capital Protocol on behalf of the Natural Capital Coalition. Over 12 years at WBCSD, she has led, for example the Global Water Tool, the Guide to Corporate Ecosystem Valuation, Eco4Biz on ecosystem and biodiversity tools, and a 2-minute “Pitch for Nature” video. She delivered a TEDx talk in 2012 on valuing nature in business. Eva has a BSc in Ecology from Imperial College London and a Masters in environmental management from EPFL, Switzerland.
