Grotscon 2013 Warhammer 40,000 Scenario Package Each scenario listed here will be played once during the Warhammer 40,000 tournament held at Grotscon 2013. The order listed here does not determine the order in which they will be played. Balanced lists able to complete a variety of the missions listed in each scenario will be key to victory in this tournament. Good luck to all of you. Scenario Outline All scenarios listed here use the following basic set-up with unique modifications. Please read this core outline as well as each scenario carefully as scoring points is not exactly the same as listed in the Warhammer 40,000 6 th Edition Rulebook. Each player scores a variety of differently named “points” these points determine the winner of a particular mission and the amount of Scenario Points awarded. Scenario Points are what will be used as hard scoring in this tournament. Ensure you are familiar with the way points are scored and understand both players may walk a way with a variety of Scenario Points each game. The Armies Each army is made up of the 1850 point list each player crafted for this tournament. The list cannot be changed before scenario and must be played as submitted unless altered by a judge for a valid reason(over/under points etc) The Battlefield Terrain is preset and may not be moved (see the Warhammer 40,000 Players Package for more info) Deployment and Turn Order Before deploying ensure Warlord Traits have been rolled for. Once objective markers (if any) have been placed and Warlord traits assigned, players will roll off to decide turn order. The player who wins the roll off may choose to deploy first and have first turn or to choose their board edge, deploy second and have second turn. Once both players are deployed the player who deployed second may attempt to seize the initiative (see page 122). Game Length This mission uses the Variable Game Length (see page 122). The game may also be called “Dice Down” due to the round time expiring. Please ensure you follow the rules for “Dice Down” as listed in the Warhammer 40,000 Player Package. Tabling an Opponent Please note that should you table an opponent (remove every single model from the table in a turn) the game is over regardless of any models that may be in reserve. If an opponent is tabled the player who is left standing will not necessarily earn full Scenario Points. Count the game as though dice down had been called and determine points scored by both players towards Missions and Objectives as laid out in the scenario. The player who tabled the opponent is awarded one additional Scenario Point for tabling his opponent however. Please note that this means a player who was tabled may still earn Scenario Points, perhaps even more than his opponent if he played canny enough.

Deployment and Turn OrderBefore deploying ensure Warlord Traits have been rolled for.

Game LengthThis mission uses the Variable Game Length (see page 122). The game may also be called “Dice Down” due to the round time expiring. Please ensure you follow the rules for “Dice Down” as listed in the Warhammer 40,000 Player Package.

Tabling an OpponentPlease note that should you table an opponent (remove every single model from the table in a turn) the game is over regardless of any models that may be in reserve.

Scenario One – Blood FeudThe Warlords know each other. This is not a first encounter, not a chance meeting. This battle has been preordained and now with all eyes watching the feud will end here and now. With a mighty roar the Generals prepare their armies for war.

DeploymentThis scenario will use the Vanguard Strike style deployment (see page 118). Before rolling for deployment each player must place (alternating) 2 objective markers following normal placement rules (see page 121) for a total of 4 objective markers. Please note that these are NOT Mysterious Objectives.

Victory ConditionsThe game will assign a variety of points to both players throughout the game as outlined in the Grotscon 2013 Player Pack and Core Outline (above) The missions for this scenario are as follows;

Primary Mission – ObjectivesAt the end of the game, each objective marker is worth 1 control point to the player that controls it. The player with the most control points at the end of the game wins the Primary Mission and earns 4 Scenario Points. In the event of a tie, both players receive 2 Scenario Points.

Secondary Mission – AnnihilationAt the end of the game, each player receives l annihilation point for each enemy unit that has been completely destroyed. Units that are falling back at the end of the game, and units that are not on the board at the end of the game, count as destroyed for the purposes of this mission. Independent Characters are treated as a unit in their own right unless they are assigned to a unit and unable to leave. Dedicated Transports do NOT count for earning annihilation points. The player with the most annihilation points wins the Secondary Mission and earns 3 Scenario Points. In the event of a tie, both players receive 1 Scenario Point.

Objective – Slay the WarlordAt the end of the game each player receives 1 Scenario Point if their opponents Warlord is destroyed.

Objective – LinebreakerAt the end of the game each player receives 1 Scenario Point if they have one or more models from a scoring or denial unit in their opponents deployment zone. Models whose units are fleeing or have gone to ground cannot be used to achieve this objective.

Objective – First BloodDuring the game the player who is first able to remove an opponents entire unit as a casualty (thus earning them an annihilation point as well) will earn 1 Scenario Point.

Scenario Two – Don't FalterLife is important. That's todays' lesson. There can be no war without life and no misery in death without it. Today you will save your soldiers from their fates and battle your hardest to keep them alive and control the battlefield.

DeploymentThis scenario will use the Dawn of War style deployment (see page 118).

Victory ConditionsThe game will assign a variety of points to both players throughout the game as outlined in the Grotscon 2013 Player Pack and Core Outline (above) The missions for this scenario are as follows;

Primary Mission – Table Quarters At the end of the game divide the table up into 4 equal sized table quarters. Each table quarter controlled earns a player 1 quarter point. To control a table quarter there must be a Scoring Unit in that table quarter at the end of the game and the quarter must not be contested by enemy scoring units (see page 123 for what a scoring unit is, only scoring units can contest a table quarter, no others). A unit may only control or contest ONE table quarter at a time. If a unit is spread between multiple table quarters, the unit is considered to control or contest the table quarter containing a MAJORITY of that unit. If this is unclear, then randomly determine which table quarter that unit is controlling or contesting. The player with the most quarter points wins the Primary Mission and earns 4 Scenario Points. In the event of a tie, both players receive 2 Scenario Points.

Secondary Mission – SaviourAt the end of the game, each player receives l saviour point for each of their own units that have not been completely destroyed. Units that are falling back at the end of the game, and units that are not on the board at the end of the game, count as destroyed for the purposes of this mission. Independent Characters are treated as a unit in their own right unless they are assigned to a unit and unable to leave. Dedicated Transports do NOT count for earning saviour points. The player with the most saviour points wins the Secondary Mission and earns 3 Scenario Points.

Please note that a unit can both score the Linebreaker Objective and Table Quarters Missions in this mission.

Objective – First BloodDuring the game the player who is first able to remove an opponents entire unit as a casualty (so they are destroyed) will earn 1 Scenario Point.
