　東京湾に面した臨海部と、山の手に連なる台地

からなる品川区。古くから交通・交易の拠点として

栄え、江戸時代には東海道第一の宿場町としてに

ぎわい、明治時代には京浜工業地帯発祥の地とし

て発展してきました。現在も、羽田空港の国際化、

品川駅への新幹線乗り入れ、大崎駅西口バスター

ミナルの整備など、交通の要衝となっています。

2027年には、リニア中央新幹線の開業も予定さ

れ、品川区は国際都市東京の表玄関として、ますま

すその重要な役割を担おうとしています。

Shinagawa City is comprised of a seaboard area facing the Tokyo Bay and tableland that extends to Yamanote. Since long ago, it has prospered as a stronghold for transport and trade. Shinagawa hummed with activity in the Edo period as the 1st post station on the Tokaido Road. In the Meiji period, it developed as the birthplace of the Keihin Industrial Area. Even today, the city is a key transportation point that includes internationalization of Haneda Airport, bullet trains arriving

and depart ing at Shinagawa Station, and development of Osaki Station West Exit Bus Terminal. With the Linear Chuo Shinkansen Line scheduled to open in 2027, Shinagawa City will undertake an even greater role as the gateway to the international city of Tokyo.

After coming ashore from Tokyo Bay, Godzilla walked on 2 legs from in front of Shinagawa Station. He squared off against a Self‐Defense Forces helicopter at Yatsuyama-bashi(in the movie, "Godzilla Resurgence").

坂本龍馬（1835～1867）SAKAMOTO Ryoma

土佐藩郷士。ペリー来航時に江戸警固のため、品川の土佐藩下屋敷にて守備についたとされる。倒幕・明治維新へと続く時代の奔流の中で、数多くの志士に大きな影響を与えた。

A country samurai of the Tosa Domain, when Commodore Perry arrived he took up defense at the Tosa Domain suburban residence. He had great impact during the overthrow of the shogunate/Meiji Restoration.

板垣退助（1837～1919）ITAGAKI Taisuke

土佐藩士。幕末・明治の政治家。幕末には藩の世論を尊王・倒幕へ導いた。維新後、愛国公党、のちに自由党を結成。自由民権運動の先頭に立つ。区内には彼と彼の夫人の墓が残る。

A feudal retainer of the Tosa Domain and politician, he steered the domain’s public opinion toward imperialism and overthrowing the shogunate in the late Edo period. Post-Restoration, he spearheaded the democratic movement. A grave for both him and his wife remains in the city.

山内豊信（容堂）（1827～1872）YAMAUCHI Toyoshige（Yodo）

土佐藩15代藩主。幕末四賢侯の一人。土佐藩の藩政刷新に努め、将軍慶喜に大政奉還を建白するなど、幕政にも大きな影響を与えた。立会川付近にあった土佐藩下屋敷に隠居・謹慎していた。

He was the 15th feudal lord of the Tosa Domain. He petitioned Shogun TOKUGAWA Yoshinobu for restoration of imperial rule. He retired to/was confined to a Tosa Domain suburban residence near Tachiai River.

井上勝（1843～1910）INOUE Masaru

長州藩士。伊藤博文らと脱藩し渡英。鉄道・鉱山学を学ぶ。1871年に初代鉄道頭に就任。翌年、品川・横浜間が仮開通。日本の鉄道創設・発展に尽力。東海寺大山墓地に墓所がある。

A feudal retainer of the Choshu Domain, he studied railroads and mining in Britain. In 1871, he became the Railway Board’s 1st director, and the following year the railway between Shinagawa and Yokohama was provisionally opened. His grave is at Tokaiji Temple.

伊藤博文 （1841～1909）ITO Hirobumi

長州藩士。維新の功臣。初代内閣総理大臣。倒幕運動に加わり、御殿山英国公使館焼き討ちにも加わる。その後、渡英。維新後は欧米諸国を巡る。憲法制定に尽力。区内に墓所がある。

A feudal retainer of the Choshu Domain, he was the 1st prime minister. He joined the movement to overthrow the shogunate, and toured Western countries after the Meiji Restoration. He endeavored to establish the constitution. His grave is in the city.

水辺千本桜計画A plan to plant 1,000 waterside cherry treesふるさと納税を活用して、2020(令和2)年までに、目黒川など水辺空間の桜を1,000本に増やす取り組みです。

Utilizing the hometown tax, the city plans to increase the number of waterside cherry trees along Meguro River and other places to 1,000 by the year 2020.

プレミアム付区内共通商品券の発行Issuing premium couponsfor use within the city区内の商店街・小規模小売業者の振興のため、品川区商店街振興組合連合会が販売する10％のプレミアム付商品券の発行を支援しています。

Shinagawa supports the issuance of 10% premium coupons by the Shinagawa City Shopping Street Federation to encourage shopping at commercial districts/small retailers in the city.

I teach children in the community musical accompaniment on drums called daibyoshi. Portable shrines can’t be carried without daibyoshi. I hope that by ensuring daibyoshi play a significant part in the children’s lives, they will pass it on to the next generation.

ジュニア・リーダー教室Junior leader classes小・中・高校生が学校や地域で活躍できるよう、キャンプやレクリエーション等の活動をとおして、知識や経験を身につける教室です。

These classes give students in elementary, jr. high, and high school knowledge and experiences through camping and recreational activities so they can be active in schools and the community.

しながわネウボラネットワークShinagawa Neuvola Network妊娠・出産・育児の切れ目のない支援の仕組みを整備しています。※「ネウボラ」とはフィンランド語で「アドバイスする場所」の意味。

A support structure has been developed to provide ongoing help with pregnancy, childbirth, and parenting.*Neuvola in Finnish means a place that gives advice.

区立障害児者総合支援施設「ぐるっぽ」

Guruppo, a municipal support centerfor the disabled2019(令和元)年に開設した、障害児者の地域生活を支える多機能型施設。児童発達支援センター、通所・短期入所サービス等があります。

Opened in 2019, this multifunctional center helps children and persons with disabilities to live in the community, and offers a child development support center and day care/short-stay services.

品川教育ルネサンスShinagawa EducationRenaissance英語科や市民科を核とした9年間の一貫教育、品川コミュニティ・スクールによる地域とともにある学校づくりなど、先進的な取り組みをしています。

Progressive endeavors are carried out that include 9-year integrated education centering on English lessons and citizenship studies, and developing schools that work together with communities as Shinagawa Community Schools.

非核平和都市品川宣言Shinagawa Declaration ofa Non-nuclear Peace Area区民の恒久平和と核兵器廃絶を願い、1985（昭和60）年に宣言。大井町駅前などに「平和の誓い」像が設置されています。

In 1985, the city declared the desire for lasting peace for residents and the abolishment of nuclear weapons. A Peace Resolution statue was placed in front of Oimachi Station and other locations.

People can borrow and return bicycles at bicycle parking areas available inside and outside the city. The number of parking areas is steadily being increased.

駅前放置自転車クリーンキャンペーンCampaign to clean up bicyclesabandoned in front of stations放置自転車の一掃と利用者のマナー向上のため、町会・商店街・企業の方たちとともに啓発活動を行っています。

To clear out abandoned bicycles and improve the manners of bicycle users, town councils, shopping areas, and companies work together to raise awareness.

区内小学生に「まもるっち」配付“Mamorucchi,” distributed to all cityelementary school students緊急通報時には、生活安全サポート隊や近くの協力者たちが子どもたちの安全確認にかけつけます。

When an emergency call goes out, community safety support members and nearby helpers rush to check on the children’s safety.
