    4 Ge e a&

    4.1 GTP T# e&GTP tunnels are used between two nodes communicatin over a GTP based interface- to separate traffic into differentcommunication flows.

    GTP tunnel is identified in each node with a T2&:- an &P address and a :P port number. The receivin end side of aGTP tunnel locally assi ns the T2&: value the transmittin side has to use. The T2&: values are e chan ed betweentunnel endpoints usin GTPA1 or ",AMM2 messa es.

    The criteria definin when the same or different GTP tunnels shall be used between the two nodes differs between thecontrol and the user plane- and also between interfaces.

    The GTPv* headers are specified in the respective clauses of this specification.

    The source and destination &P addresses and :P ports used for each GTPA1 messa e depend on the role that themessa e plays in a messa e e chan e. messa e can be an &nitial messa e- or a Tri ered messa e- or a Tri ered/eply messa e to Tri ered messa e. n &nitial messa e is sent to a peer GTP entity with a seDuence number chosen

    by the sendin entity (see subclause @.=). Tri ered messa e is sent in response to an &nitial messa e. Tri ered/eply messa e may be sent in response to a Tri ered messa e. "ee subclause @.= for the seDuence number usa e.

    Typically- a /eDuest messa e is an &nitial messa e- but a /eDuest messa e may be a Tri ered messa es in certain

    procedures where they are tri ered by an &nitial 1ommand messa e. "ee subclause ;.*.< for classification of the &nitialmessa es and their possible Tri ered messa es- as well as cases where there are Tri ered /eply messa es to theTri ered messa es.
