导演的话 Director’s Message

“游戏”是孩子们发展与成长过程中不可或缺的元素。我们相信 “游戏”能够挖掘好奇心，建立有意义的关系，尤其是我们和母语之间的关系。

秉持着这样的信念，我们创作了一系列以华语为主的青少年剧场作品。《小问号》系列的第三部曲《小问号和移山人》就是我们不断探索后的成果。

在没答案的问题中培养好奇心

就如之前《小问号》系列作品一样，《小问号和移山人》里面所提出的问题和答案并不简单。

对我们来说，寻找 “正确答案”相对来说是次要，提问问题之所以更为重要是因为它激发了我们的好奇心，让我们对复杂的世界有更深一层的了解，让我们改变这个世界。

以别具意义的方式接触华语

当语言和文化成为生活中的一部分时，我们才能和它们有着良好的关系。然而，在现今的世界，孩子们和华文华语之间的关系却建立在考试和成绩的平台上。这是需要被改变的。

我们在坚持制作高质量的华语作品时，语言并不是重点，它主要是用来沟通和理解的工具。只要孩子们乐在其中，就能自然而然地从中学习华语。

艺术创作可以是强而有力的工具。我们希望小问号的精神可以启发你不断地发问，继续地好奇。

Play is an important engine for our children’s development and growth. We believe in using Play to develop curiosity, and to develop meaningful relationships – especially with our mother tongue.

At the same time, we have built a canon of Chinese Theatre for Young Audiences (TYA) works that reflect this philosophy. The third instalment of the wee Question Mark series, The wee Question Mark and the Mountain Movers, is the result of our exploration!

Nurturing Curiosity with Questions With No Answers

Like previous instalments, there is nothing simple about the questions asked in The wee Question Mark and the Mountain Movers. Nor are there any simple answers.

Yet, these questions are important because they trigger our curiosity. For us, finding the “right answer” is secondary to sparking change and having a better understanding of the complexities of the world.

Fostering Meaningful Exposure to Chinese Language

A healthy relationship with our language and culture is when they are intuitive parts of our lives. Yet in today’s world, our children’s relationship with Chinese language is artificial and ruled by exams and results.

Something has to change! We believe in creating high-quality productions where Mandarin is not the focus, but instead the means of communication and understanding. Once children are engaged and entertained, learning Chinese becomes natural, and much more effective.

Artmaking can be a powerful tool. We hope the wee Question Mark spirit will inspire you to continue asking hard questions, and cultivating your curiosity!

小问号和朋友们的冒险记：加入及参与其中The Many Adventures of wee Question Mark and Friends: Joining In and Taking Part!

众所周知，《小问号》系列作品挑战我们的观众提问“大”问题。可是我们要怎样能让他们提出问题呢？

那就是把说话权交给他们！

这些年来，我们在作品中设计了观众参与的桥段，激励观众与小问号和朋友们一起寻找自己心中的答案。

这些活动的设计并不只是为了好玩，也没有既定的答案。反之，它们是开放式的，激发观众的好奇心并鼓励他们反思。

然而，在某些情况下，人们的诠释有时候并不清楚，或者对立的观点会引起意见分歧。因此，创造一个安全、相互尊重且舒服的空间是重要的。

我们演员所做的，就是不断地追问，帮助参与者厘清他们的想法，通过对话引导的方式，提醒大家每个意见都是可以成立的。

The wee Question Mark series is known for asking BIG questions that challenge our audiences. But how do we get them to tackle these questions head on?

We hand the mic to them!

Over the years, our audience participation has developed into segments that inspire audiences to search for their own answers alongside wee Question Mark and her friends.

These activities are not just for fun, nor do they have fixed answers. Instead, they are open-ended and encourage audiences to be CURIOUS and REFLECTIVE.

Yet there can be instances where explanations are not clear, or where contrasting opinions lead to disagreement. Thus, it is important to create a safe, respectful and comfortable space!

One way our actors do this is by asking follow-up questions to help participants clarify their ideas, and to facilitate dialogue by reminding everyone that every opinion is valid!

观众在《小问号》系列里的参与全记录：Audience Participation through the wee Question Mark series:

《小问号和探险家》The wee Question Mark and The Adventurer (2015)在主要的剧情桥段，观众跟随小问号和同伴们一起大合唱及做指定的动作。

Audiences sing along and follow the actions of wee Question Mark and her friends’ actions during key moments.

《小问号和没名字》The wee Question Mark and the Nameless (2017)受《瞎子摸象》的故事启发，观众们使用不同形状的模型创作出他们心中大象的模样。

Inspired by “Blind Men and an Elephant”, audiences use different shapes and create what they believe an elephant looks like.

《小问号和移山人》The wee Question Mark and the Mountain Movers (2019)观众们参与投票，在看似简单的“是/否”选择背后，请观众们思考它的后果。

移不移山？演出后，欢迎到前台想一想，移一移！

Audiences take a vote, but later are asked to consider the consequences behind the seemingly simple “yes/no” choice.

Will you move the mountain? Join us at the front-of-house after the performance to move (or not move) the mountain!
