105 Donovan Drive | Alexandria, MN 56308(320) 762-2396 | www.donnmfg.com

Today, Donnelly operates out of a modern 110,000 square foot facility. The company utilizes up to date equipment, information technologies, and exacting performance metrics. These are combined with best-in-practice methods, quality systems, and training programs to produce injection molded parts for leading industrial Original Equipment Manufacturing (OEM) companies.

Donnelly has been acknowledged through numerous awards from its world-class customers. They have also been recognized for excellence in leadership and performance from community and business and industry groups at the local, state, and national level.

The 220 employees at Donnelly are dedicated to setting the standards in the custom injection molding marketplace for “How Short Run Is Done”. The company focuses on providing its OEM customers with value-added engineering, manufacturing, and customer support services. Donnelly’s project engineering team works on-site at customer locations to provide project management and assure design for manufacturability. Its employees in the Alexandria manufacturing facility fulfi ll customers’ ongoing production needs. A strong customer service orientation ensures satisfaction levels exceed industry standards.

Manufacturing operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 358 days per year. This is accomplished with three weekday and two weekend shifts. The people at Donnelly are guided by the mission “To Deliver Good Products on Time” and our stated Company values:

• Do your best • Treat others the way you want to be treated • Don’t be afraid to ask for help • Always work as a team

The tale to describe the journey from 1984 to today is interesting and varied as our success has not followed a straight line. But two things remain constant bedrocks:

First, terrifi c, hard-working people fi ll Donnelly. But more than that, they are learners. This learning is essentially twofold: it’s learning about our customers and their business challenges; and it’s learning about our business and what we can do to continually streamline and improve our methodologies.

Second, Donnelly is a company that has produced its own luck. Yes, we’ve gotten some good breaks, but we have also been disciplined and deliberate about our business strategy. And at Donnelly, we work hard to continually improve our products and services and how we deliver them to our customers.

In the end, our story is not told best by a listing of facts and accomplishments. Rather it’s best summed up by a simple statement. Our company and its people are not protected by copyrights or patents. Our success and security rests on service and performance alone – every day.

Douglas Scientifi c is a wholly-owned bioscience company of Douglas Machine Inc. It began in 2004 with an objective to engineer revolutionary high throughput laboratory automation that would be optimized for Array Tape™. This vision was realized through extensive research, engineering, products, patents, acquisition, and market acceptance.

Douglas Scientifi c provides patented Array Tape™ automation for scientifi c laboratories that screen high volumes of genetic samples and chemical compounds using a thin and continuous polymer tape with embossed wells. Traditionally, scientists have performed such screening using single microtiter plates, which requires signifi cant investments in robotics, automation, and consumables.

Douglas Scientifi c also designed laboratory instrumentation, Nexar™ and Araya™ that optimizes fl uid handling and fl uorescent scanning within the tiny embossed wells. This technology allows scientists to complete screening at profound throughput gains and at fractional costs. It is not uncommon for Douglas Scientifi c’s laboratory clients to experience a tenfold throughput gain while reducing their processing costs by 70 to 90 percent.

The small embossed wells in the Array Tape™ and nanoliter fl uid handling capability of the instrumentation enables much lower chemical reaction volumes, which drives savings on chemistry, reagents, and genetic source material. Motion and robotics are minimized with the inline model, and the cost of microtiter plates and environmental impact is signifi cantly reduced with Array Tape™.

The company has deployed its products on several continents and now employs 35 professionals. This growth prompted construction of a new 40,000 square foot facility to support operations. The common tag line of parent company, Douglas Machine Inc., couldn’t be truer for its newest venture Douglas Scientifi c... “more than a machine”.

Heartland began in 1976 as a small fabrication shop to serve customers with big expectations. Its early customers included Harley Davidson, Toro, John Deere, IBM, and Melroe-BobCat. During its beginnings, Heartland learned to excel at addressing complex component machining and evolved to a vibrant single-source manufacturing company that supplies full machines and services around the world. ITW Heartland became a division of Illinois Tool Works in 1982 and is highly regarded for its consistent performance, fi nancial strength, and mature business operations. As a global industrial fi rm, Illinois Tool Works has over 800 operating business units in 52 countries employing 60,000 men and women.

Three business units within ITW Heartland meet their client needs. First is Spiroid Gearing. This business unit handles the design and manufacturing of custom precision gearing, all of which are patented. Next is Manufactured Products, which handles the machining of close tolerances and complex components, such as driver blades for nailers. Finally, Strategic Assembly Solutions, which provides complete machine assembly services.

In order to meet the customized and often stringent requirements of military and aerospace clients, ITW Heartland maintains several important certifi cations, including: AS9100, ISO 9001-2008, ISO 14001, and Underwriters Laboratories. These may seem like only letters and codes to some, but parts and assemblies that are placed in planes, tanks, and missiles have to perform, or lives are endangered. Heartland received a rating of 100% on a recent AS9100 audit…leaving nothing to question regarding their quality and performance.

Heartland has realized a steady growth rate over the past four decades, which can be attributed to reliable and consistent partnering with customers and vendors. They operate with a servant leadership model. From that, their partners can expect mutual trust, integrity, and appreciation. Everything at ITW Heartland begins and ends with customer satisfaction. The strength of this ethic is found in their mission, “To assure the best possible service and value to customers by building partnerships and promoting teamwork with them.”

ith headquarters right here in Alexandria, ITW Heartland is a world-class manufacturing company offering precision engineered machines, parts, gears, and electro-mechanical products across a variety of markets. It has distinct expertise in aerospace, energy, military, beverage, and automotive industries. A few of its notable customers include: Eaton Aerospace, Boeing, Honeywell, Ford Motor, ER Systems, and Paslode.
