オーストラリア英語• 1788 年にイギリスの流刑地として NSW が選ばれ、囚人たちがイギリス全土から送られたが、 Cockney を話す人々の英語が広まった。
• 1850 年代から、ゴールドラッシュが起こり、多くの移民を受け入れたことにより、アメリカ英語の影響が始まる。その後、第二次世界大戦中のアメリカ軍の影響、戦後のポップ文化の広まりなどにより、アメリカ英語の影響は現在まで続いている。

オーストラリア英語の特徴(音韻)
• 母音– [ei] − > [æi] ex. Day,say– [i:] − > [i∂] ex.he,me– [ai] − > [ i] ex.nine,height⊃
• 子音– [r] の発音はイギリス英語に似る
