This is a relatively easy job, the fastening bolts are all located on top of the engine. The coilpackconnectors are easy to disconnect without damaging anything, and the spark plugs themselves arenot difficult to replace.

Note: This service requires that the battery is disconnected, meaning that the factory radio willrequire its code to be reentered. Do not perform this service without the code, a dealer would haveto re-enable the stereo's functions

手順手順 1 — spark plugs

Pull hood latch release, located onthe base of the A-Pillar.

Pull up on the release lever betweenthe hood and grille, it is located onthe left.

Lift hood and engage the hood proprod inside the provided notch holeon the edge of the hood.

Disconnect negative (-) batteryterminal from the battery.

Place the now free negative (-)battery cable behind the batteryitself so it cannot easily re-connectitself.

Remove the 4 10mm acorn nutsfrom the plastic engine cover plate.Set nuts aside for reassembly.

Remove the plastic coverplate andset aside.

Using the 10mm socket and ratchet,remove the 4 bolts holding down thecoilpacks. You may need the 10mmwrench if your socket is not deepenough to contact the hex section ofthe stud.

Pull up on coilpack lightly, it shouldrelease easily from the spark plugbelow.

Using your thumb and forefinger,grasp the connector, pushing downthe latch with your thumb.

Wiggle and pull the connector off ofthe coilpack, it will have someresistance.

If the connector does not release, trypushing connector in, then pushingthe latch and pulling on theconnector.

Note: Do not pull by the wires.

Remove all the coilpacks and setaside.

Using the 3/8" Ratchet with SocketWrench Extension, 3/8" Drive and5/8" Spark Plug socket, remove the4 spark plugs from the spark plugwells. They should require someforce but unscrew easily after theinitial turns.

Remove new spark plugs from box.Apply anti-seize to the spark plugthreads ONLY, carefully wipe offany excess that touches the ceramicinsulator or the tip contact.

Now apply dielectric grease to thecontact tip and the first 1/2" of theceramic insulator.

Using the spark plug socket, puteach spark plug into their hole andthread in hand tight.

Tighten all 4 plugs 1/2 turn pasthand tight.

Reinstall the coilpack 3/4 of the wayinto the hole, then push on theelectrical connector until it clicks.

Push the coilpack down the rest ofthe way into the spark plug well, youshould feel a slight click as thecoilpack connects to the contact ofthe spark plug

Repeat these same steps for theremaining 3 coilpacks.

Using the 10mm socket and 3/8" ratchet, install bolts on the #1 (from left) and #3 coilpack. Theyshould be 1/4 turn past finger tight.

Install the studs on #2 and #4 coilpacks.

Reinstall coilpack cover, using the 4 acorn nuts removed previously.

Reinstall the negative (-) batteryterminal, tightening with the 10mmwrench or 10mm ratchet.

Remove hood prop rod from thehood, flip down and connect it intoits stay.

Shut hood lightly, then push down toengage the main latch.




This is a great job to do to save some money, its involved enough to be entertaining but not enough tobe scary.

Using the code written in yourService History booklet (the Pre-Delivery Inspection page shouldhave it), key in the radio code usingthe preset buttons.

Don't forget to mark down that youserviced the spark plugs in theService History booklet!
