a. Pulmonary blood flow total = 5 liter/menit Ventilasi alveolar = 4 liter/menit Sehingga ratio ventilasi dengan aliran darah
dalam keadaan normal = 4/5 = 0,8
b. Tekanan arteri pulmonal = 25/10 mmHg dengan rata-rata = 15 mmHg.
Tekanan vena pulmolais = 5 mmHg, mean capilary pressure = 7 mmHg
Sehingga pada keadaan normal terdapat perbedaan 10 mmHg untuk mengalirkan darah dari arteri pulmonalis ke vena pulmonalis

Faktor utama yang mempengaruhi kapasitas vital adalah bentuk anatomi tubuh, posisi selama pengukuran kapasitas vital,kekuatan otot pernapasan dan pengembangan paru dan rangka dada (Compliance paru).
Penurunan kapasitas paru dapat disebabkan oleh kelumpuhan otot pernapasan,misalnya pada penyakit poliomyelitis atau cedera saraf spinal, berkurangnya compliance.
