BALTIMORE It was easytoforget where the Orioles weresix days ago, and the fact thattheyre missing their Nos. 1 and 3hitters, as they circled the basesin Wednesdays fourth inning.

    One hit after another, one

walk after another, and one runafter another, Baltimore scoredeight times for its biggest inningin two years, and then cruised toa 9-2 win over the Kansas CityRoyals before 15,740 at CamdenYards.

TheOrioles (23-24) matched aseason high with their fourthstraight victory and have achance to get back to .500 forthe first time since May 1 withanother win today.

Adam Jones, who keyed Balti-mores big rally with a doubleand a two- run single in thefourth inning alone, was glad itcame with an offensive outburstlike that.

Its about damn time, Jonessaid. It was about time we getoneof those instanceswhere webat twice in an inning.

After Luke Hochevar (3-5)needed just 28 pitches to coastthrough the first three inningsfor the Royals (22-26), the Ori-oles rocked him in the fourth, scoring eight runs on six hits, three walks, a wild pitch and anerror.

The last time Baltimorescored eight runs in an inningwas June 26, 2009, against theWashington Nationals.

The Orioles sent 13 men to theplate in the fourth, starting witha Jones leadoff double. VladimiGuerrero drove in the first run

CATONSVILLE Alyssa Semones croucheddown and dipped her head, resting her stickagainst her knee.

Westminsters senior captain looked up and sawplenty of time remaining in Wednesdays Class 4A-3A state final, but she also saw a huge opportunityslipping away. The Owls opponent and old neme-

sis, Severna Park, was in the midstof a big turnaround. And Semonesand her teammates were almosthelpless to stop it.

Severna Park dominated the sec-ond half, erased an early Westmin-ster lead and ever looked back in a14-7 victory at UMBC.

The Falcons (1-4) beat the Owlsin the state tournament for thethird time in four seasons, the lasttwo coming in the championship game. They alsohanded Westminster its first loss of the year.

Severna Park took control of the game by win-ning the first nine draw controls of the second half. After senior attack Kate Haker netted a goal with22 minutes, 47 seconds to play, putting Westmin-ster ahead 6-5, Severna Park reeled off nine con-secutive goals.

The Falcons won draw after draw, worked theball around the perimeter and used speed to pen-etrate the Owls defense things they werentdoing in the early stages of Wednesdays state final.

After SPs Madison Thomas scored from KendylGardners assist with 17:21 remaining, the Falconsled 9-6 and Semones took a few seconds to collectherself.

I felt at that point that they got a lot of the mo-mentum, Semones said. We were starting to lose
