We love the missionaries of the Spain Barcelona Mission. I have just finishedmy second round of interviewing all 183 missionaries in El Faro and the experience hasleft me more inspired, more confident, more grateful and more enthusiastic than everover the future of this mission. The Lord has sent a very special group of missionaries tothis mission because He has a special work for us to do. As I was conducting interviews Ioften asked, “How are you?” or “How is your area doing?” or “How do you feel aboutyour mission?” or “Do you find joy in this great work?” The variety of responses was mostinteresting. However, they general fell into two general categories:
1) a minority said “this is a tough area ,” “we are doing a lot of street contacting ,” “wefind “news” but they don’t keep their appointments,” “we have no progressinginvestigators ,” “there is no one in the streets to contact ,” “the ward is not helping us ,”“my companion irritates me ,” “my investigators never show up to Church…” AND
2) a majority said, “this area is great ,” “there is so much potential in this area ,” “wehave found some of the most amazing miracles street contacting ,” “there areopportunities everywhere ,” “we just had the most amazing discussion ,” “the Lord hasblessed us with so many teaching opportunities ,” “the ward gives tremendous supportto the work ,” “I absolutely love my companion ,” “our baptismal service was one of themost spiritual I have ever seen .”
One sees a pattern when comparing the two. The first group tends to be alittle more pessimistic and sees the glass as half full and the other is optimistic and has acup which runneth over. Don’t misunderstand me on this issue, I don’t ever wantreports to be sugar-coated or less than honest, but a positive, happy, upbeat attitude
makes all of the difference in the world.
Many of you will remember the training that Hermana Dayton did in ZoneConference when she taught about Creating a Life of Happiness. The thesis of herpresentation was that our attitude is what determines how our lives will turn out, not ourcircumstances. Being positive has a lot to do with how much emotional energy weinvest in our current enterprise (missionary work). Positive people are unstoppable, focused, excited, ebullient, confident, driven and fun to be around. They tend to havemore success in life and are usually happier. Are people naturally positive or naturallynegative? Perhaps there may be some disposition to be one or the other, but I believethat we really can create our own happiness by our frame of mind or attitude. CharlesSwindoll has made the statement that…

“The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude,me, is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, than education,an money, than circumstances, than failures, than successes, than what other peopleink or say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness or skill. It will make
r break a company….a church…a home. The remarkable thing is we have a choicevery day regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change ourast…we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannothange the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the string we have, and thatour attitude…I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I reactit. And so it is with you…We are in charge of our attitudes.”
I have often thought that a positive attitude and faith go hand in hand. Ife have faith something is going to happen and we approach its fulfillment withositivity, energy, and confidence, the chance that it will happen is much greater. Maye all understand the power of positive thinking in this, the most important work of all, isy prayer. May our beloved El Faro ever be a bastion of positivity, high energy,
ptimism and deep faith. After my interviews I am convinced that the great majority ofur missionaries satisfy this definition and for that reason I am very POSITIVE about ouruture.
on mucha positividad,
residente Dayton

Attributes of Jesus Christ – Dependability
Message FromHermana Dayton
1 de Noviembre de 2015El larín de El Faro
Dependability is fulfilling what we consented to do, even if it means unexpectedacrifice. In the Scriptures, a dependable person is defined as one who is faithful. The
Greek word for faithful is pistos and means "trustworthy; true, reliable." As missionaries, weave accepted a call from our prophet to serve our Heavenly Father as His missionary inringing others to Christ. What a sacred privilege this is to do the will of the Lord at thisme in our lives.
As missionaries it is important for us to be in harmony with the mind and will of ourHeavenly Father and then be willing to do whatever it takes to pleaseHim. Dependability is not letting down God and others who are counting on us. It ismportant for us to be dependable with our companions, our District Leaders, Zoneeaders, Sister Training Leaders, Assistants, President Dayton and especially the Saviornd our Heavenly Father. There are many examples in the scriptures of dependableeople: Nephi, Moses, the Apostle Paul, Job, and many others who faithfully fulfilled their
missions.
A dependable missionary is one who---Is in harmony with the mind and will of our Heavenly Father Does what he says he will doIs strictly obedient to mission rulesCompletes assignments in a timely manner Uses time wisely and stays on the missionary scheduleKeeps confidential information private
Is truthful in all that is saidGives God credit for what is accomplishedCompletes a task exactly as assigned

President Dayton and I feel very grateful and richly blessed for the opportunity to workwith so many faithful missionaries. We see you living the mission standards, accepting assignments, faithfully serving those around you, going the extra mile in findingand teaching investigators. Thank you for all you do to be dependable missionaries. Weove you dearly and sincerely pray each day for each one of you. We know that inhe end of our lives, we will each face our Savior. It is my hope and prayer that we will
hear Him speak, "Well done thou good and faithful servant."
Much love, gratitude and admiration--

President what anamazing week of miraclesI have seen. On Saturday Ihad my first Baptism thisweek with Pablo! It was soamazing. He was superready and he is just soamazing. I was morenervous than a house catin the jungle. My handswere so sweaty I could offilled up the baptismalfont with my sweat. Butluckily everything wentreally well. We had 2amazing talks one byElder ____ and the otherby Hermano Cesar theyoung mens president. They were super simple sohe could understand itvery well. Pablo’s momVirginia came and wehad set a fecha with herfor the 24th of October.
I bet you can't guesswhat our miracle thisweek was! Monica gotbaptized! Is was amazing, and my first baptism ever.
I got to perform theordinance and I wasrelieved when I did it rightthe first time, it wasamazing to see howhappy Monica was after. And especially after shereceived the gift of theHoly Ghost!!! Ahhh nowwe just have to keep that
fire burning here in -----------!
This week we were reallyblessed to be able tobaptize Jeaninne, whichwas an amazingexperience. We had a greatattendance, with manymissionaries bringinginvestigators along too, so ithelped out more than justJeannine!
This week has beenabsolutely full of miracles.Estera's baptism was areminder of why I'm here.We get rejected by so manypeople, but we don't justgive up and assumenobody wants the gospel. There are people out therewho have been preparedfor this for a long time. Sheliterally glowed after herbaptism, and seeing her likethat reminded me of howmuch light and happinessthe gospel brings to ourlives. We often don't see itbecause we have grownaccustomed to it, but to seethe way it changessomebody else is incredible.
This was the week President. We were able to baptizeJoan, and immediately afterthat we were able to hearhim bear his testimony fromthe pulpit. It was wonderful.Great experience, baptismwent smoothly, everything
went according to plan, wehad several members of theward show up. It was great.
President, MOISES WASBAPTIZED!!!!!!!!!! It washonestly the biggest miracleever. Oh my Gatos, he wasso ready. His testimony ofthe restored church is sostrong. He prays. He reads. He absolutely shines and is
just the biggest example tome. Ok so the week of hisbaptism, his mom still hadn'tgiven him permission to bebaptized, but he wanted itso bad. SO BAD. We hadsome of the most spiritualcitas that I have ever hadwith him. His testimony issimply unshakable. ButThursday night we met withhim, his mom and the reliefsociety president.... It wasincredible. Moises shared hisdesire with his mom... Tearswere shed... The spirit was sostrong... By the end of it, hismom opened up and justexpressed that she wantswhat is best for her son andwants him to be happy, soshe signed permission, andguess what?!? HE WAS
BAPTIZED!!!!!!
