Our Vision“Every life is worth loving and remembering always…”
These poignant words are inscribed in stone at theentranceway to the picturesque GlenwoodCemetery. This peaceful site is a final resting placefor thousands of early settlers and their descen-dants who cleared the land and shaped our history.Today their legacy endures in street names, historichomes and buildings and in small and great deedsthat marked lifetimes of endeavours.
Our mission is to keep the property in its former elegance as a self-sustaining cemetery, to be a wel-coming place, a community resource used for family walks, historical research, concerts, churchservices and community events.
Our vision celebrates life. It’s our way of “loving andand remembering always…”

The centerpiece of the cemetery is a small, elegant chapel built in 1901. This graceful
building showcases six stain-glassed windowsincluding a beautiful Tiffany-style window.
The quaint limestone chapel is the perfectbuilding for a private service or celebration oflife ceremony.
A commemoration service is a fitting way toremember and reflect upon the memories of aparted loved one.
The Chapel can also be booked for weddings, workshops, and lectures.
Glenwood Cemetery is one of the most historicand beautiful cemeteries in Ontario.
It opened in 1873 after the burial grounds of thearea churches had been filled. This spectacularVictorian Cemetery, set on 62 acres in the heart ofPicton, it is the final resting place for many of thearea’s early settlers and their families. With itsrolling hills, winding dirt roads, and tall trees, thecemetery is typical of the Victorian era.
