The Flex-O-Form gasket programme from Simritcovers a whole range of applications.

Flex-O-Form SFlex-O-Form S, a modified light-
coloured PTFE material with a
low level of mineral filler, is
used for flange and pipe con-
nections in applications that are
critical in chemical and thermal
terms. Even with hard flange
materials Flex-O-Form S will
adjust to an uneven surface. The material is not easily dam-
aged during installation. The
permissible surface pressure
on installation is 80 N/mm2.
Due to the homogeneity of the
material the sealing effect
already starts at 12 N/mm2:
a particular advantage in the
case of soft flange materials
with relatively rough sealing
surfaces.
Flex-O-Form PFlex-O-Form P, a modified dark-
grey PTFE material with a low
level of special graphite filler,
is used for flange and pipe con-
nections as well as housings
and as frame seals in applica-
tions that are critical in chemi-
Sealing of detachableconnections to pipes, containers, units etc. isachieved using staticseals. The function of theseal is to compensate forunevenness in the seal-ing surfaces and slightmovement such as heat
expansion and vibrationin the overall system. The most common typeof static seal for suchdisconnection points aregaskets. With the gasketmaterials Flex-O-Form Sand P two types of mate-rial with specific proper-ties are available, in par-ticular for the chemicalsindustry.
cal and thermal terms. Due to
a high level of compressibility
Flex-O-Form P offers excellent
adaptability to uneven and
rough sealing surfaces, result-
ing in uniform pressure distribu-
tion over the circumference.
Flex-O-Form P is porous when
delivered; there is no adverse
effect from minor damage tothe surface of the seal. It should
be remembered that with this
flange material the minimum
surface pressure of 20 N/mm2
should also be observed in
order to achieve the required
sealing effect.
Deformation andrecovery capability ofFlex-O-Form S and P
Flex-O-Form P offers excellentadaptability. Even after severe
deformation of the seal it still
has a good recovery capability
(difference between solid and
broken line). Both Flex-O-Form
P and Flex-O-Form S are suit-
able for cutting using a water
torch process.

Fitting instructionsA minimum roughness of
Rz 50m should be observed.
When using the gasket
material Flex-O-Form P
a roughness of Rz 150m
should not be exceeded.
Tighten screws crosswise
with torque spanner in min.
two tightening operationsat 50% and 100% of the
permissible starting torque
for the screws.
Comply with minimum surface
pressure.
Do not exceed maximum
surface pressure.
Take note of dependence on
temperature.
Special applicationsfor Flex-O-Form
FOF S as moulding material
Segmental shape (FOF P)
Moulded FOF P-Rings
(ex. hose couplings)
Approvals forFlex-O-Form
Flex-O-Form P has beenapproved by BAM (German
materials testing institute)
for use with gaseous oxygen
with pressures to 4 MPa and
temperatures to 225C.
KTW
In general aim for the maximum
permissible surface pressure on
installation. Check the surface
pressure after 1012 hours.
(setting characteristics of seal).
When using Flex-O-Form P the
following procedure is also
applicable: If it is only possible
to use surface pressures falling
short of the maximum permis-sible levels, e.g. with flange
materials liable to break,
retightening will be necessary
several times within 24 hours.

Permanently resistant universal sealing tape Flex-O-Dit
Flex-O-Dit is a permanently re-
sistant gasket tape that comes
in roll form. It is 100% PTFE
and is manufactured in a spe-
cial process by reforming the
fibre structure.
Examples of use flanges
lids housing connections
pipework
special valves/fittings
Benefits high chemical and thermal
resistance
good plastic ductility
high adaptability to surface
structures
high stability under compres-
sive load no cold flow
self-adhesive and easy to
handle
economical storage
Fitting instructionsThe sealing surfaces must be
clean, free of grease and dry.
The width of the sealing tape
depends on the nominal width
of the flange / design. To fit re-
move the protective foil of the
adhesive strip. Attach the seal-
ing tape within the circle of
holes and press down lightly.Arrange the ends crossed over
in front of a bolt; do not butt up
together. Only fit one ring.

The width of the sealing tape depends on the nominal width of the flange. With
major unevenness in the sealing surface the next largest tape width should be used.

From a standard design to an individual solution
9
Solution offered bysegmental designThanks to its high level of com-
pressibility the gasket material
Flex-O-Form P provides for the
form-fit joining of segments into
one seal. Ease of operation and
thus simple fitting is achieved
by wrapping the joins with a
very thin PTFE sealing tape. Thegasket can then be considered
as a single part.
The material properties provide
for maintenance-free usage
after insulation of the tubular
heat exchanger.
Benefits from develop-ment of seals in line withrequirements excellent sealing values of
specially developed gasketmaterials
easier usage in comparison
with cut goods from PTFE
sealing cord
high functional reliability
improved handling on
installation
Whether tried and tested stan-
dard versions or an individual
sealing design optimised ac-cording to the application, with
PTFE you can be sure of finding
a solution that caters for your
needs.
The gasket materials described
above form the basis for a wide
range of punched and turned
seals. Thanks to the range of
dimensions offered by Flex-O-
Form S and P sheeting and foils
single-part gaskets with large
diameters are possible. In
addition, there are dimensional
ranges which call for a cus-tomised solution.
