Energ y efficien cy at p artial lo ads - ESEER index
○ The E.E.R. i ndex represents a n estimate of the energy efficienc y ofthe cooling unit in nominal design conditions. In realit y, the opera tingtime of a chiller in nominal conditions is usually less than the operatingtime in partial load conditions.○ The E.S.E.E.R. (European Seasonal E.E.R.) is an index that
estimates the average seasonal energy efficiency of the cooling unit i nfour load and water temperature conditi ons. Generall y, two waterchillers with the same E.E.R. may have dif ferent E.S.E.E.R. values. Infact, for an air-cooled chiller, the average energy efficiency depends on
design choices and on the inlet air temper ature at the condensing heatexchanger.○ The E.S.E.E.R. energy index, introduced by the Europeancommunit y (Project E.E.C.C.A.C. - Energy Efficiency and Certificationof Central Air Co nditioners), is characterised by the water temperatures(see table “B”) and by the energy weights that are assigned to the four
load conditions considered in the calculation: 100%, 75%, 50% and25%.

where EER100% EER75% EER50% EER25% represent the
efficiencies of the cooling unit in the four load conditions and at thetemperatures indicated in table “B”.The data is calculated using Eurovent methodology. The pump
absorption ( if present) is not taken into consideration.

○ Table “C” shows the E.E.R. and E.S.E.E.R. values for each model. The high energy efficiency values at partial loads have been obtainedthanks to the opti misation of t he heat exchangers and b y the variable
capacity compressor.

All units are equipped with electronic c ontrol that is set up interfacewith an external BMS via a serial c ommunication line by means ofthe KRS485 serial interface accessory (proprietar y protocol orModBus
® RTU) and the following converters.
○ KRS232 – RS485/RS232 converter for connection to supervisionsystems;○ KUSB – RS485/U SB converter for connecti on to super visionsystems.○ The FTT10 LonWorks

In general, a super vision system allows access to all unit functions, such as:○ making all s ettings which are accessible through the keyboard;○ reading all process variables of the inputs and outputs, whether
digital or analogue;○ reading the various alarm codes whic h are present, and resettingthem as necessar y.

○ The unit is designed for outdoor installation.○ The unit is equipped wit h male threaded water connections.
○ Segregate the unit if installed i n areas accessible to pers ons under14 years of age.○ The unit must be positioned to comply with the mi nimumrecommended cl earances, bearing in mind the access to water andelectrical connections .
○ The unit can be equipped with anti- vibration mountings on request(KSA).○ We recommend install ing intercept valves that isolate the unit from
the rest of the system.○ It is essential to fit a metal mesh filter (square mesh of no greater
than 0.8 mm) on the unit return piping. The mesh must be of a suitablesize, wit h suitabl e pressure drops.○ However it is installed, the coil inlet air temperature (ambient air)must remain within the set limits.○ The unit may not be installed on brackets or shel ves.
○ Correct installation and positioning include levelling the unit o n asurface capable of bearing its weight.○ The THAIY unit comes co mplete with a condensation collection tray, with ductabl e drai ns.

○ The unit is equipped with threaded male water connections and amanual air bleed valve positioned both insid e and outside the shell.○ It is necessar y to install intercept val ves that is olate the unit from the
rest of the system. It is also advisable to install elastic connec tion joints.○ A metal mesh filt er (with a square mesh measure no more than 0.8mm), of a suitabl e size and with suitable pressure drops, must be fittedon unit return pipes.
○ The water flow through the heat exchanger should not fall below thevalue correspondi ng to a temperature differential of 8°C with thecompressor at the maximum number of r.p.m.○ During long periods of inacti vit y, it is advisable to drai n the waterfrom the s ystem.○ It is possible to avoid draining the water by adding ethylene glycol tothe water circuit (see “Use of antifreeze solutions”).
○ The expansion tank is sized on the basis of the water content of theindividual machine. Any additional expansion tank should be sized bythe i nstaller on the basis of the system.

○ The use of ethylene gl ycol is recommendedif you do not wish to drain the water from thehydraulic system during the winter stoppage, orif the unit has to suppl y chilled water attempera tures l ower than 5°C The additi on of
