IMAGINE SOMEONE WHO IS VIBRANTLY HEALTHY, HAPPY AND AT THE TOP OF THEIR GAME.

Do you picture their medicine cabinet filled with prescription drugs? Do you see them getting overwhelmed of the day ahead? Do you suppose they’re anxious about their life 20 years from now? Are they unclear on what they want out of life? Do they live in the past and worry about the future?

Probably not.

Most of us have a sense of what true health, happiness and success is, but have lost the roadmap along the way. We know what is not working for us, but we keep doing it because it’s familiar and we have done it for a long time. Mixed messages are sent to our mind so we get mixed results. From Birth, everyone’s subconscious mind is creating a database of memories. The subconscious goes to this database and can bring up any past decisions, beliefs, values, language and words we tell ourselves. Our subconscious mind has a vested interest in controlling what we think that will make us healthy and happy. But that is not always the case as your mind also deletes,

distorts and generalizes many things that have happened on our journey. This results in missing valuable information and misconceptions about our world.

The mind and body then needs direct and clear instructions to establish an understanding of the outcomes and the success you want to have. The mind and health hacks you’re about to learn will get you to your peak performance, Energy and brain power that will allow you to do more in less time and multiply your impact and capabilities to gain a competitive advantage for yourself and your organization.

Hi. My name is Dr. Hanan Selim. I’m a preventative and Habit Transformation Coach. What that means is, I help leaders, Managers and senior executives in the Mena region maximize brain power, energy and peak performance. I do this using my 3 compounding pillars of preventative and habit transformation coaching.

“Preventative and habit transformation is the future of healthcare” as quoted by TEDMD. It differs from other forms of healthcare available today. Conventional healthcare and alternative health treats the symptoms not the root cause. You know the drill. You go to the doctor’s office for your pain. You wait a long time in a cold environment, get a one size fits all treatment and leave with either a prescription, drug sample or supplement. That you know is not going to address the cause and only mask the symptoms.

It’s like having a fire in your home and the fire fighters come in and only remove the batteries from your fire alarm. It’s insane, I know but that’s what we do every day with our health. We take pain killers without addressing the reason behind the pain.

The preventative and habit transformation healthcare is where energy, focus, fat loss and flow lives. This type of healthcare coaching combines my 25 years of extensive experience in healthcare with scientifically proven alternative methods like NLP, Mindfulness, Energy healing and Hypnotherapy. This powerful combination allowed me to formulate what I now call “mind and health Hacks”.

I discovered these “health and mind hacks”, When I was on my own journey of weight loss and to maximize my energy, brain power and peak performance. After my second and third pregnancies, I gained

20 kilograms in excess weight. Being in denial that I can lose the weight easily as I did with my first pregnancy, the weight crept on, until I gained 40 kilograms of excess weight. This ultimately affected my health, energy, my business and marriage. The wakeup call to action is when my labs came back with a fatty liver, cholesterol, borderline diabetes and a diagnosis with dermoid cysts and Endometriosis. My blood panel cancer indicators results were 600 and normal is 50. I realized I needed to act quickly before I lost everything I worked hard for and cared about. I tried everything from diet pills, medication, exercise and fad diets that ever existed. Nothing worked. I got the worst acne of my life that I never had even in my teens. I knew I needed to get to the core cause of my health and life problems. I started researching and using alternative methods to address my inner conflict. I started seeing results but nothing drastic that I needed urgently. So, I decided to combine it with my extensive healthcare background. That’s when miracles started happening. My results sky rocketed, I lost 30 kilograms in 10 months, optimized my energy, brain power, peak performance and saved my business, marriage and life.

That’s why I decided to teach these simple yet powerful solutions to as many driven and intellectual individuals. I don’t want anyone to go through the heartache and pain like I did. The road to success, fulfillment, happiness and amazing abs is not a long tedious process.

It’s Hackable.

There are 3 compounding pillars to preventative and habit transformation that I learned on my journey and not from any text book. As will be discussed in the next chapter. What’s great about these solutions is while clients are losing weight, maximizing energy and brain power, they’re also optimizing health and preventing disease. Because the reality is that the diseases of the 21st century like Heart disease, cancer, Alzheimer’s disease and diabetes don’t “start suddenly”. These diseases have been shown to start 20, 30, 40 and even 50 years before diagnosis. As reported by the world health disease and statistics of 2014.

More and more intellectual people are realizing that there’s a new way to look at health and peak performance. The environmental working group in the U.S. did a research by testing the blood in the

umbilical cords. They found 287 chemicals of which 187 of these chemicals were carcinogenic. Another group in the U.S. did autopsies on young children who died in car accidents. They found a large amount of plaque in the arteries that if they lived to become adults, they would’ve developed heart disease. Ten years ago, autism was 1: 10,000 children affected. Now, it’s 1:54 children in most industrialized countries. So, it’s more important than ever for preventative and habit transformation coaching to remove the compounding factors that bring on these diseases, maximize energy and peak performance to live a fulfilling and happier lives.

Jazz musicians like Miles Davis calls it “Being in the pocket”. Athletes like Michael Jordan calls it “being in the zone.” Runners call it “The runners’ high”. Albert Einstein, Edison and Mozart called it “an altered state”. Einstein used to sit in a chair with keys in hand and underneath his hand was a metal plate. So, as he dozed off, the keys would fall into the plate making a loud sound to wake him up. It was during these times when he had his scientific breakthroughs. Google, Facebook and Mc kinsey and company call it “peak performance”. Psychologists and neuroscientists call it “flow states.”

Mc kinsey and company have done a 10-year research on peak performance (flow state). They showed that their senior executives that accessed flow once a week could outperform the competition. Others that accessed flow twice a week outperformed the competition by 5-time fold!

Definition of peak performance

Dr. Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi researched top performers in their field. Primarily athletes. He’s been researching flow for over 50 years and concluded 2 things. The people who accessed and integrated flow in their lives were the top performers in their field and were the happiest people. Dr. Mihaly defined flow state as a” highly focused mental state.”

Best way to describe flow is a surfer riding the “tube wave”. He loses his sense of self and time during this state. The activity and his awareness merge into one. He may be riding the wave for only 5 to 10 seconds but it feels like 5 to 10 minutes. He is motivated, energized and on an all-time high.

Flow has 4 important stages:

1. The struggle stage- Where self-doubt and the inner critic operates. Leads to procrastination and lack of will power.

2.The release state- overcoming the struggle by acting and moving towards your outcome.

3. The Peak flow state- Really engrossed in the activity losing sense of time, pain and awareness merges with the activity. This is the highest level of consciousness.

4. The Recovery/Integration stage- Moving beyond peak flow and taking the energy from the activity and integrating it in other areas of our lives.

THERE ARE CHEMICALS RELEASED DURING FLOW STATE, these are the lightning bolts or AHA moments and breakthroughs we experience.

Neuroscience has shown that these chemicals are what addicts experience during the rush of Euphoria of using recreational substances. They

become extremely addicted to try to reach that initial all-time high. During flow state, you experience this Euphoria naturally. The scientific terminology for flow state is “Transient hypo frontality”’. Meaning of Transient is temporarily or for a brief period. Hypo means slowing down. Frontality refers to the pre-frontal cortex of the brain. The pre-frontal cortex is the part of the brain where our inner critic exists. This is the “Woody Allen” of our brain. Where he nags with self-doubt, negative self-talk and procrastination. This part of the brain shuts down, allowing us with the courage and stamina to move forward towards realizing our goals. Second big idea with flow is that it accelerates the path to mastery. In other words, we do more in less time with more accuracy.

The 3 major chemicals released during flow state are Dopamine, Endorphins and Anandamide.

Dopamine is the reward motivating behavior neurotransmitter. It activates our motivation to act towards our goals.

Endorphins cause an analgesic effect. They decrease sensation of pain. Like how runners don’t feel any pain during the race until the finish line or thereafter.

Anandamide is also known as the “Bliss” chemical. the Euphoria effects.

With the release of all these chemicals at the same time, we experience the AHA moments and lightning bolt of breakthrough peak performance. The brain activity shows Gamma waves (30-100 +Hz) which is the highest-level of consciousness and where peak performance and Flow state registers.

Neuroscientists thought this universal phenomenon was experienced by chance and resembled waiting for lightning to strike. Now, we can not only create the currents to create the lightning as hacking flow but we can integrate it in our lives.

The 3 compounding Pillars to hacking Flow

Dispelling the myth that Flow is not hackableThere are 3 pillars to accessing and integrating flow in our lives in order to maximize brain power, energy and peak performance.

The first pillar is to remove toxicities that is blocking us from flow. These are biotoxins like Mercury, GMO pesticides and environmental toxins like stress. Mercury is prevalent in commercially farmed fish or from the sea near coal burning countries. Pesticides and GMO ridden grains that are fed to cows and even fish. To avoid this, you need to eat Organic or farm fed meat, butter, dairy and fresh water fish. The best way to reduce the primary environmental toxin called stress, that is free and doesn’t need a doctor’s prescription or visit is called grounding.com or earthing.com. Simply put, you remove your socks and shoes and stand feet grounded to the earth like at the beach or park.

Second Pillar is to create micronutrient sufficiency. Best way is to find out the essential nutrients depleted by medication you’re taking or have taken. You can either do a blood panel for micronutrient deficiency or replace the essential nutrients being depleted by your medication. The best vitamins to consider are wholefoods vitamins that don’t have magnesium stearate salt and are wheat and gluten free. The optimal vitamin for brain power and energy is Omega-3 and find out your vitamin D levels to upregulate it. The 2 components in Omega that are essential for your brain power are called EPA and DHA. EPA should be at least 400mg and DHA 860mg per serving.

Third Pillar is to inject a few simple peak performance habits and lifestyle strategies into your busy lives. An important peak performance habit to do is what you hate first. Early in the day your mind is like a full tank of petrol. If you delay what you hate to later, you will have less will power to override the struggle stage with less brain power to overcome any problems that might arise. Another great peak performance habit is to make the familiar, unfamiliar and make the unfamiliar, familiar. This is where alternative methods like NLP, energy healing, mindfulness and visualization turbo charges you with new habits that serve you well and expedite the habits that work for you while eliminating the ones that don’t meet your best interest.

1. Curry

Curry contains turmeric, a spice that in turn contains the anti-inflammatory antioxidant curcumin. Curcumin is capable of crossing the blood-brain barrier, which is one reason why it holds promise as a neuroprotective agent in a wide range of neurological disorders.

Research has shown that curcumin may help inhibit the accumulation of destructive beta amyloids in the brain of Alzheimer's patients, as well as break up existing plaques.1 Curcumin has even been shown to boost memory and stimulate the production of new brain cells, a process known as neurogenesis.

A word to the wise… some curry powders may contain very little curcumin compared to straight turmeric powder, so choose the latter for the best health benefits.

2. Celery

Celery is a rich source of luteolin, a plant compounds that may calm inflammation in your brain, which is a primary cause of neurodegeneration. Luteolin has also been linked with lower rates of age-related memory loss in mice. In addition to celery, peppers and carrots are also reliable sources of luteolin.

3. Broccoli and Cauliflower

Broccoli and Cauliflower are reliable sources of choline, a B vitamin known for its role in brain development. Choline intake during pregnancy "super-charged" the brain activity of animals in utero, indicating that it may boost cognitive function, improve learning and memory,

It may even diminish age-related memory decline and your brain's vulnerability to toxins during childhood, as well as conferring protection later in life.3 Eggs and meat are among the best food sources of choline.

4. Walnuts

Walnuts are reliable sources of plant-based omega-3 fats, natural Phyto sterols and antioxidants, and have been shown to reverse brain aging in older rats. DHA is a type of omega-3 fat that's been found to boost brain function and even promote brain healing, although it's more plentiful in animal-based omega-3 sources, like krill, as opposed to walnuts.

5. Crab

One serving of crab contains more than your entire daily requirement of phenylalanine, an amino acid that helps make the neurotransmitter dopamine, brain-stimulating adrenaline and noradrenaline and thyroid hormone, and may help fight Parkinson's disease. Crab is also an excellent source of brain-boosting vitamin B12.

6. Garbanzo Beans (Chickpeas)

Chickpeas are one of the best food sources of magnesium (aside from kelp and green leafy vegetables). Magnesium Citrate benefits brain cell receptors to speed the transmission of messages, while also relaxing blood vessels, which allows more blood flow to the brain.

7. Red Meat

Red meat like grass-fed beef is an excellent source of vitamin B12, which is vital for healthy brain function. People with elevated levels of markers for vitamin B12 deficiency are more likely to score lower on cognitive tests, as well as have a smaller total brain volume, which suggests a lack of the vitamin may lead to brain shrinkage.

8. Blueberries

The antioxidants and other phytochemicals in blueberries have been linked to improvements in learning, thinking and memory, along with reductions in neurodegenerative oxidative stress. They're also relatively low in fructose compared to other fruits, making them one of the healthier fruits available.

9.Healthy Fats

Beneficial health-promoting fats that your body—and your brain in particular— needs for optimal function include organic butter from raw milk, clarified butter called organic grass fed raw butter, olives, organic virgin olive oil and coconut oil, nuts like pecans and macadamia, free-range eggs, wild Alaskan salmon, and avocado, for example.
