Rationale:

Pediatric and adolescent nursing are a unique field of knowledge and clinical skills, that

deals with different age groups and typical problems of healthy and sick teens, children,

and their families.

This course will emphasize the need to develop a unique approach for treating children

and teens in different treatment settings, based on the acquisition of new and recent

professional knowledge and integrative clinical skills.

Goals of the course:

1. To impart knowledge and skills for inclusive treatment of children and teens

according to the stages of growth and development, in states of health and

sickness, on the level of a beginning nurse.

2. To develop a therapeutic approach to children, teens, and their families, with

regard for biopsychosocial and multicultural aspects.

Teaching methods:

Frontal lectures, discussions, case studies, simulations, and self-study

Course requirements:

Class attendance is mandatory in all lessons according to the regulations. The number

of lessons in which absence is permitted is: 20 academic hours (including justified

absences).

Submittal of academic assignments by the date set by the coordinators of this field at

the schools.

Completion of the course requires a passing grade (at least 60) on the final academic

exam, and a passing grade (at least 70) in the clinical practicum.

Prerequisites:

1. Successful completion of second year studies.

2. Review of contents studied in the course on developmental psychology
