• Santou Kyouden is known to be the first person to create a manga in 1798.

• People who create manga are called Mangaka ( まんがか ).

アニメ• アニメ is an abbreviated form of “animation”.

• In English speaking countries anime is known as Japanese Cartoons

• Earliest known date of when anime was created was in 1914. – The person who did this animation was unknown.

• Osamu Tezuka. – Created Astro Boy ( てつわんアトム (see right)) and

Black Jack ( ブラック・ジャック ).

• Mecha Genre created in 1970s

• Sometimes locations in anime/manga will be based on a place in real life-Tourist spots for readers / viewers
