Physical activity is an important indicator of health. Although Taipei is an urban city, many physical activity places are available and accessible. There are five hundred and forty two community parks, 11 sport centers, around two hundred thirty kilometers bicycle route and 12 hiking paths in Taipei. There are many kinds of sport supportive groups in the community such as folk dancing group, Tai-gi group, jogging group, hiking group, Chinese martial art group ands so on.

Tobacco control is another important strategy for cancer prevention. in recently years there are many tobacco control actions based on the WHO’s MPOWER concept in Taipei City.
The Survey of the smoker numbers is one of methods of monitoring tobacco use and prevention policies in Taipei. Constructing non-smoking places is an important strategy to protecting people from tobacco smoke. Most indoors, except private house and night bar, are smoking restriction by law. Even some parks are non smoking enviortment.

As for Measures toward preventing teenagers from acquiring tobacco, we strongly prohibited the stores near schools from selling tobacco to teenagers.
Also, we banned any activities involved in tobacco-selling, especially advertising and sponsorship.
Last year, tax on tobacco was raised from 5 NT dollars to 10 NT dollars, which led to decline of the number of smokers.

The picture indicates that there is a significant percentage decrease of male smokers above 18 years old, while of female smokers above 18 years old increase slightly.
