Introduction

After the Fukushima nuclear disaster in 2011, many countries are reconsidering their strategy of nuclear power development such as whether they should keep building nuclear power plants, prolong the life of such plants, or cut their output.

While nuclear energy is cleaner than that of the conventional thermal power, it has brought about serious environmental hazards. Therefore, it has aroused discussions in different aspects such as its overall impact on the environment and whether it may promote China’s international status.
