Voltveti ManorVoltveti Manor

– first reports of Tignitz manor in 1563

– “Voltveti” originates from Wolffeldt,

the name of one the owners (until 1737)

– the last owner (until 1919) was the

Stryk family

– the manor house was built in 1830-s,

in late classistic style

– other heritage protection

– the annexes were built in 1930-s (teachers residence) and 1960-s (dormitory wing)

– first established in 1830-s– reconstructed as a dendrarium in 1930-40– over 100 arboreal and fruticulose species

– need for forestry specialists increased in1920-s

– in 1925 Voltveti Forestry School was established

– forersty education until 1961, then reorganized into agricultural education establishment

– initiated by the Association of Estonian Manor Schools (unites 60 schools across Estonia)

– visiting days throughout summer, offering manor tours, different activities and entertainment (exhibitions, workshops, concerts, etc)

– over 1000 people visited Voltveti

during 6 visiting days in summer 2009– several exhibitions– different workshops

– retired teachers of the training center actively took part in the “Forgotten manors” project

– we are planning to continue cooperation with them
