MEZZANINE I MEZZANINE II
The main idea of the theater project from the Seaton De-laval mausoleum began by an exploration of the space using lights sensitivity and emotion. The mausoleum is a building full of history, the one of the Delaval family, and I was intrigued by the usage of a mausoleum and what’s the building evoke. For this I extended my research to create different spaces, and an unique atmosphere for this theater using light (artificial and natural) materials and sensitivity.Because I wanted that the users take part of the perfor-mance while entering the mausoleum without realizing that they would be creating a new atmosphere just by their own reflections on the floor or the wall.To create this without touching at the old mausoleum building, staying at the state of a ruin, I chose to develop a new structure which magnified the space, aiding private reflection by creating different spaces and levels. That structure also evoke the memories of past lives. Here, architecture is constructed, choreographed and contemporary, structural and stylistic, experimental ans experiential.

the development of a new structure evoking memories of past lives. It magnified the space, aiding private reflection

The original design process for the Gatehouse, used as the main entrance of the productive gar-den, is to bring the visitors directly from macro to micro scale. To do so, the project needed heights.Elevated above the ground, the Gatehouse floats above the existing wall in the east side of the walled garden. The users saunter through a vertical flow of circu-lation, passing by many levels oriented to highlight the vistas depicting the surrounding landscape. The circulation flows smoothly through the build-ing to the promenade via the galleries and navigate the visitors to the other facilities of the productive garden.

The design process for the Gatehouse consists on the
creation of a sensorial experience for visitors,
from macro to micro scale. To do so, the project needed
heights : ‘Elevated above the ground, the Gatehouse floats over the existing wall
in the east side of the walled garden.’

Walltown TalesThe Heterotopian
Pilgrimage
The aim of the Walltown Tales is to rethink the role of archi-tecture in our society and its ability to provoke thought. Using a familiar language,
storytelling. The scheme manifests itself as a social experiment in the form of a community set wit-hin a ‘Heterotopian village’…Based on a narrative in which all dwellers can identify and
interact with the architec-ture by immersing them in a unique environment where
they can experience a diffe-rent way of life during their
residency.

Walltown VillageSite Plan
FIRST DISTRICT- THE SANCTUARY -
The Sanctuary would act as communal meeting point with necessary facilities for all users to maintain a certain comfort during the journey and still be in complete
communion with the nature and the surrounding landscape. The building include accomodation, a clubhouse used as a lounge for social gath-
ering or personal relaxation. The Walltown Canteen - located below the lounge - is a big open space including
large tables to accomodate big groups. The architectural language of that sheltered building is inspired by the vernacular
architecture, aimimg to be in communion with the outside and the natural ele-ments around it.
FIRST DISTRICT- THE CHAMBER OF ANXIETY -
The Chamber is the first building that the protagonist has to experience whilst starting his journey onto Walltown.
The building is an information point aiming to settle the policies, ideas and story of the social experience.
The building is a space where the user will leave behind any kind of personal be-longings such as phone, watch .. In order to fully enhance with the experience and completely disconnect to his routine by leaving behind any form of past anxiety.
SECOND DISTRICT- THE TOWN HALL -
The typology of the Town Hall makes it easy for one to relate to it, adapting itself to the needs of the inhabit-ants of Walltown, either at collective or individual levels.
Main cultural building of the village, the Town Hall will accomodate the Council Chamber in order to give power and responsability to a community of users to gather, share ideas and discuss decision concerning
events and policies happening in Walltown.Decisions taken here will guide the users’ experience and allow them to enjoy and decide of their own
journey. The building will also include an open exhibiton space where each protagonists will exhibit a form of artistic work documenting their experience at the end of the journey. Those creations will remain for each, a remem-
brance of their own Tale.
SECOND DISTRICT- THE FACTORY -
The factory, used as wooden workshop and office space is place where the pre-fabricated dwelling pods are created .
A professional team will work here full time to allow and help all users for the creation of their residential structures onto the site.
The aim of the dwelling is to accentuate the idea of community - by helping one another creating accomom-dation structures like the WikiHouse for exemple - those prefabricated pods will be stock in a hangar waiting
for inhabitants to make good use out of it.The Factory is acoomodating wooden workshop for the production of prefabricated structure of course, but also, for protagonists to use machinery and tools in order to achieve their own creation to exhibit at the end
of their journey if necessary.
- THE DWELLING -
Following the theme and goals of the wikiHouse project - An architecture for all - the temporary dwelling woul be main residential space for the Walltown inhabitants.
In order for the pilgrims to fully experience the site, and be in communion with the nature and surrounding landscape, it was obvious to let them decide of their accomodation plot around the Walltown Quarry site.
The prefabricated structure would be assemble on site by the protagonists itself - technical manoeuvre would be available if necessary (the factory).
The constrcution process will emulate the community spirit and enhance a rewarding feeling for those peo-ple, part of an experience aiming to break their lifestyle routine for a short period of time.
The architectural language of the structure is driven by the vernacular shelterd dwellings and, ocnsidering that those structures has no define context - the four facades will be
identical aiming for a free layout and self made composition of the desire accomodation.

Walltown TalesThe Heterotopian
Pilgrimage
Walltown Tales uses the medium of storytelling to
create a vivid architectural environment aiming to build a community within the site,
addressing the themes of va-rious psychological disorders through a series of cathartic architectural scenarios on
their quest for their inner-sel-ves.
Based on philosophical concepts inspired by Michel Foucault’s notion of ‘Hetero-topia’, the created narrative
transposes the myth of Icarus as a metaphorical represen-tation of the pilgrims within
their own Tale.
