What is the PYP Exhibition?

•An inquiry that the students have an interest in.•A culminating project for the PYP.•An inquiry that uses students learning from

previous years.•An experience that uses the essential elements

of the PYP.•A demonstration of how students can take action

as a result of their learning.•A celebration of who our students are as

learners.

Skill development

•Communication Skills•Social Skills•Research Skills•Self-management Skills•Thinking Skills

Students should demonstrate:

appreciation, commitment, confidence, cooperation, creativity, curiosity, empathy, enthusiasm, independence, integrity, respect and tolerance

How much time do students spend working on the exhibition?•Students began brainstorming ideas and

concepts in December.•Students are now spending 8 weeks on

their inquiries.•Students still have Maths and Language

daily (and all subject lessons as normal).

Presentation

•Students present the results of their inquiries on April 22nd.•Students will also perform on the

presentation night to demonstrate their learning in all subjects.

Where are we now?

•Students have selected and researched their issues. •We are now in the ‘action’ stage where

students attempt to solve their issue.•We are encouraging students to make

their action meaningful, and at least some of it sustainable.

Assessment

•Rubrics assess the skills, processes and attitudes.

•Though the end product is assessed the emphasis is on the process.

Parental Support

Be knowledgeable:

Have an understanding of the purpose and requirements of the

exhibition

Be reflective:

Reflect on and give feedback on the exhibition after the presentation.

Be caring:

Support and encourage students and teachers

Be an inquirer:

Ask your child about the exhibition.What are they happy with?

What do they need to focus on?

Be a risk-taker:

Let your child solve their own problems and be responsible for

their own learning.

Be principled:

Encourage independence

Be open-minded:

Respect student ownership of the process
