Resistance temperature detectors (RTDs), também chamados termômetros de resistência, são sensores de temperatura que apresentam mudança de resistência elétrica conhecida de acordo com a temperatura.

Idealmente a resistência varia linearmente com a temperatura.

Uma reta aproxima os pontos da curva que representa as temperaturas, T1 e T2, e T0 representa o ponto médio de temperatura.
