The project �Living with music� has been created at the Rio de Janeiro PsychiatricCenter six years ago, through their desire to offer a space where the involved individualscould experience a diversified musical sound activities, giving place to expression, toactivity and to communication, being coordinated by the
Psychologist and music therapeutic, Sidnei M. Dantas. The project is about anopen activity to all belonging to the institution, users or workers staff, people involvedby the music ad poetry, meet once a week to listen to music, sing, play, compose andover all establish a feeling and an emotional contact trough the sound. By thesecompositions there is space to talk about the life of these people and in this way; theproject intends the sharing of life and values. The group �Harmonia Enlouquece�emerged as a result of these encounters, which gave body and voice to their musical
delirium, with their own songs and the interpretation of a popular singer.
�BLACK CONFUSION� GROUP

This is a Rap group, established five years ago, in the Center for PsychosocialAssistance � Porto Alegre. The group emerged after a Rap workshop. Its has the Hip Hopas their method approach developing a Rap creative workshop by the themes pointed bythe social movement and it includes together with these, the theme of psychiatricreform. In this sense, violence, oppression, exclusion, empowerment, criticalconscience, political participation, centralize the to the deinstitutionalization policies.As the major part of the group is composed by young black people from the perifericalarea, the racial issue is also one of the important themes of the group. �The Hip Hop onmental health� as they usually present their work, makes rhythm and poetry and itspreads out the importance of the psychiatrically reform.
�No jail, no exclusion: include us�. �The world needs me, the world needs you, wecan�t allow them to shut our voice, the world needs us�. The esthetical Rap experienceenlarged the creative encouragement of the participants. The group Black Confusion has
been participating in various events of Hip Hop and Mental Health in the State.

Maria Cristina started her studies as a singer with the Uruguayan Mezzo � soprano Lidia
Belardi. Throughout 1995 she has studied in Madrid, Spain with the soprano Angeles Gulim. She
attended the International Music Festival in Montevideo with the musical opera �Jesus Christ
Super Star� by Lloyd Webber, having being selected in the first place, and in this opera
receiving the character of Maria Madalena this production under the regency of the Gerardo
Moreira.
Maria Cristina has been invited by local and international organizing committees to
participate in opening ceremonies of various events.
THOLL, IMAGEM E SONHO

Tholl, Imagem e Sonho are a Pelotas City group which has built their work based on a
circus technic with a new and modern language of performance. This so called �new circus�
group are on the road since November, 2002. Tholl performances are working team plays that
�transmit� cooperation, humor, balance, challenges, dreams, joy and magic. With exotic
costumes, a touch of modernity, sophisticated lightning, choreographic dance and vibrant
music, Tholl presents the spontaneity of each of its artist - the love for the art and in the
capacity to overcome their own limits � physical and emotional. The costume design is
created by the director, Joao Bachilli, and made by the Group. Each actor works on his/her
own makeup.

PORTO ALEGRE MUNICIPALITY BAND

The Band was founded on July 13th, 1925 by Otávio Rocha. Its first regent, José
Leonardo was brought from Italy and he was graduated by Palermo�s Conservatory. The
first sixty musicians�, among Italians and Argentineans, played all varieties of instruments
of the big classical bands.
By 1988, with the establishment of the Cultural Department of Municipality of
Porto Alegre, the Band was institutionalized and linked to the Music Unit of this
department; and by 1989 the Band had improved its scope of action. Beside the
activities in Schools � Projeto Be-a-Ba � the Band developed others activities to put the
citizens in close contact to the various types of music. In this period the Band jointed
together with local musicians to play in theaters of Porto Alegre.
Today, together with the musical community, the Band participates of the
Encontrabanda � a well succeeded social initiative, exchanging ticket fees into food for
poor communities.
Marcelo Nadruz is the current regent of The Band.
