Händel Wohnheim is a small student residence in Freiburg, Germany. There, walls turn into art galleries, gardens into concert halls, neighbors into friends.

Somehow, I have found myself in this place.I do not want to sound exaggerated, it is just the way it is.

I have traveled to a lot of places and I have met so many people... but I never felt at home.

I do not know if you understand what I mean.

Of course I experienced real happiness a thousand times before. Of course I laughed, and I enjoyed.

But I always felt in another universe, as if seeing the world from another perspective, a spectator who contemplates a nice movie.

When I arrived here,

I was not a spectator anymore.

I do not know what makes the Händel atmosphere so special.

I am sure, the forest surroun-ding the buildings reminds us that, even if we are living in a city with cars, pavements, concrete and noise, we are part of nature and somehow connected to those black trees saying hello each morning.

The little garden between the buildings

may also be important to make us feel

like a big family. In the sunny days

everybody gets together here: reading,

doing slackline, making barbecue...

There is no need for a plan, the sun

just makes you go downstairs and en-

joy the moment.

Then you observe the big white building, hundreds of little glowing windows, some

people doing daily routine stuff.

A person comes back with fruits, some others express them selves

by playing music.

Music from their souls.

The people living here...

The people living here...

definitely... that is the key, what makes it special.

Everybody has a story to tell, so many different backgrounds, cultures, interests... so much talent!

Authentic people, people who are as they are.

Sounds easy, but believe me, it is so difficult to find those who follow their instincts.

There is a kind of energy which drives you to go further, to test yourself.

Then you find people with the same mindset; ‘Ars scaenica’.

I guess that is the reason why they are happy here.

They smile!

Somehow this spirit remains here.

Each WG stores lots of treasures. Every wall tells you a story. Have a

look, check some of them, examine carefully the pictures and you will get

the essence.

Think about the generation and generations of students before you.

After this year, I have a place in the world where I can be myself. Doesn’t matter if I want to walk barefoot, run while screaming or give hugs to everyone. Here everybody is always welcome.

If you are reading this, you have probably expe-rienced it. You know what I am talking about. We are lucky! If not... just follow this advice; walk through the garden, listen to people, talk to them without prejudices. Dance with the music, drink some beer and have a good time.

Keep on sharing some love.

Special thanks to everyone who contributed, namely:Ciara Barry, Zoltán Daniló, Andrea Lerchner,

Ellen McKenna, Luggie Müller, Jan Schmutzler,Maria João Sousa and Sarah Wylie.
