Definitions of Hosts in our context

A host can be a sender, a receiver or bothA host can be an IP or a hostname.

Example:

localhost ( for the local machine can be a sender and a receiver)

Definition of Links:

A link identify the relationship between one sender and one or more receiver(s):

1. A link has a sender and one or more receiver(s)2. A link has a name3. All attributes marked with a star are required

Definition excludes:

Excludes is a list of files and directories to exclude from replication.

1. The exclude list is in a file in enduradata\edcdist\etc\excludes

2. It has one line for each pattern to exclude3. It must have the destination directory to avoid an infinite

Definition of includes:

Includes is a list of files and directory patterns to include from replication.

1. The exclude list is in a file in enduradata\edcdist\etc\include

2. The file has one line for each pattern to exclude3. The default is to include everything not in the excludes

Link names are alpha-numeric only.

CONFIGURATION

STEP I

DOWNLOAD

THE SOFTWARE AND THE LICENSEhttp://www.enduradata.com

Drop the license in the “etc.” directory and make sure the file is named edlicense not

edlicense.zip!!!!

STEP II:

Configure EnduraData EDpCloud

a. We will start a new configurationb. Add some hosts to usec. Create some linksd. Add hosts to linkse. Apply the new configuration

ADD HOSTNAMES OR IP’s WILL BE USED IN THE CONFIGURATION

1. Click on “New Host” on the main bar2. In the popup: click on “Add Host(s))”3. Enter one host per line4. Click ok when done

CREATE A LINK:

1. Add a link name on the top (alpha numeric characters only)2. Select Sender tab

a. Select a host to use a senderb. enter the password field (required)

3. Add receiver (s)a. Enter password (Must be the same as the sender)b. Enter the storepath (Full path name where to store the

data received from the sender)

4. Click “ok” when done adding receivers

APPLY THE CONFIGURATION

Hit “Apply” when done configuring(or editing links).

You will see a popup from which you will select the servers to which you will apply the configuration.

Configurations are not applied until you hit Apply.

YOU ARE ALMOST DONE!

Once you apply the configuration, it will take effect in a few seconds.

That was the basic configuration

Lets try it!

FILE TRANSFER CAN BE DONE:

• Manually• On an automatic schedule• On a Continuous/Real Time basis• Or using all of the above

Manual File Transfer

• Click on the distribution tab• Select a destination host• Enter the path and hit the little “play” button

The Scheduler

• Allows you to distribute data on a scheduled basis

• Pause data distribution• Resume data distribution

The Scheduler• Select the operation: Pause or resume or

distribute• Select a link (or all links)• Select a receiver (or all)• Select the time (minute, hour, day, etc.)• Select the path• Hit create• Repeat as needed and hit apply when done (You

need the password for remote servers)

Continuous /Real Time

The continuous replication watches the file system and each time a change occurs it is propagated to all links if they match the patterns in the include and do not match the pattern in the excludes.

EXCLUDE THE DESTINATION DIRECTORY TO AVOID A LOOP

(1) Use notepad to edit excludes file in enduradata’s etc directory

(2) Add: Your destination directories to the exclude file

CONFIGURE REAL TIME

• Select the “Real Time Conf” tab• Enter the path names to monitor for file changes ( One

path per line)• Hit “Save”• If the servers did not start, you need to start them using

the GUI or the command line• Restart the servers:

All Programs -> enduradata-> edcdist -> Start EnduraData Servers

MONITORING & STATS

• See status of files and progress• See statistics• See Jobs• Change Job priorities• Cancel Jobs, etc.

Command line interface(See the doc directory)

• edstop [ windows]• edstart [ windows]• edconfigure [ windows]• edstat • edjob• edq• edpause• edcryptor

• Each server has a log file in the logs directory • The GUI has a log file as well• The post and pre workflow when enabled have a log

History

• The logs directory has a history file for each transaction
