• Sixth Form students – 1/3 attend work experience with an employer

• 1/4 attend Supported work experience placement at The Vestry Cafe

• Vocational Sectors include Catering, Childcare, Animal Care, ICT, Horticulture, Sport & Business Administration

Future Plans

• Increase Supported Internship opportunities – helping young people with learning difficulties understand the pathway to work. Interns spend up to four days a week in a work placement and one day in college.

Students study specific qualifications to their work placement E.g. From Entry 1 to Level 1 in Childcare, Catering, Warehousing etc.• Employer Engagement – pro-actively approach local employers, increasing

opportunities for our students• Disability confidence conference – local employers are attending to break

down barriers and perceptions of employing young people with learning disabilities/difficulties (working in partnership with Job Centre Plus and Local Authority)

Future Plans

Develop new employment project “Stepping Out”This involves working with local employers to train students on site with staffing support from The Academy. Employer engagement – The Grand Hotel, part of The best

Western chain is the first employer to pilot this project beginning in September 2016.

2-4 P16 students following Hospitality/Catering based at the hotel 2/3 days per week to train in all aspects of hospitality.

1 day per week based at the Academy to follow core subjects and vocational qualifications.
