PROPERTY LINE
1. CONTRACTOR IS TO REVIEW GENERAL NOTES PRIOR TO BEGINNING WORK.
2. CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR TRACING, MARKING AND PROTECTING ALL ELECTRICAL CIRCUITS THROUGHOUT THE DURATION OF THE PROJECT.

5. CONSULT THE DIMENSIONAL CONTROL PLAN. VERIFY THE PORTION OF EXISTING CONCRETE CURBS AND PAVEMENT WHICH ARE TO REMAIN.
6. COORDINATE WITH LOCAL POWER, TELEPHONE, CABLE, AND GAS COMPANIES PRIOR TO THE REMOVAL AND/OR RELOCATION OF EXISTING UTILITIES.
7. UTILITIES SHOULD BE CUT AND PLUGGED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THEIR RESPECTIVE UTILITY COMPANY REQUIREMENTS AND PRIOR TO DEMOLITION OF THE EXISTING
BUILDINGS.
8. CONTRACTOR TO PLUG EXISTING EXPOSED ENDS OF ABANDONED UTILITIES.
9. CONTRACTOR TO DETERMINE SOURCE OF EXPOSED UTILITIES AND, IF REQUIRED, RECONNECT TO PROPOSED UTILITIES.
10. CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REMOVAL AND LEGAL DISPOSAL OF UNSUITABLE MATERIALS FROM THE PROJECT SITE. CONTRACTOR SHALL CONTACT LOCAL
AUTHORITIES TO DETERMINE DISPOSAL REQUIREMENTS.
11. TREES ON THE PROPERTY SHALL BE PROTECTED AGAINST DAMAGE DURING DEMOLITION OPERATIONS UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED. THE TREE PROTECTION SHALL BE
PLACED AROUND TREES PRIOR TO ANY DEMOLITION OR GRADING. TREE PROTECTION SHALL REMAIN UNTIL WORK IS COMPLETED. REFER TO LANDSCAPE PLANS FOR
TREE REMOVAL AND PROTECTION DETAILS.
12. ANY DAMAGE DONE TO EXISTING TREE CROWNS OR ROOT SYSTEMS SHALL BE REPAIRED IMMEDIATELY BY AN APPROVED CERTIFIED ARBORIST AT THE OWNER'S
DIRECTION. ROOTS EXPOSED AND/OR DAMAGED DURING DEMOLITION AND/OR GRADING OPERATIONS SHALL BE CUT OFF CLEANLY INSIDE THE EXPOSED OR DAMAGED
AREA, CUT SURFACES PAINTED WITH AN APPROVED TREE PAINT, AND TOPSOIL AND MULCH PLACED OVER THE EXPOSED ROOT AREA IMMEDIATELY.
13. CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR ESTABLISHING AND MAINTAINING EROSION CONTROL MEASURES ON THE SITE IN ACCORDANCE WITH FEDERAL, STATE, AND
LOCAL REGULATIONS UNTIL THE SITE HAS BEEN STABILIZED.
14. CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR GRADING DISTURBED AREAS TO ALLOW FOR POSITIVE DRAINAGE. GRADING SLOPES ARE NOT TO EXCEED 3:1.
15. AREAS EXCAVATED FOR FOUNDATION OR UNDERGROUND STRUCTURE REMOVAL SHALL BE BACK-FILLED AND COMPACTED TO A MINIMUM OF 95% STANDARD
PROCTOR DENSITY USING A SHEEP'S FOOT ROLLER.
16. CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR SECURITY OF THE SITE DURING DEMOLITION ACTIVITIES AND UNTIL SUBSTANTIAL COMPLETION.
17. WORK, UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED, SHALL CONFORM TO THE STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS FOR PUBLIC WORKS CONSTRUCTION ISSUED BY THE 3RD ADDITION OF THE
NORTH CENTRAL TEXAS COUNCIL OF GOVERNMENTS AND CITY STANDARD CONSTRUCTION SPECIFICATIONS.
18. THE HORIZONTAL AND VERTICAL LOCATIONS OF EXISTING SUBSURFACE UTILITIES HAVE BEEN DETERMINED FROM DATA RECORDED BY OTHERS. IT WILL BE THE
RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CONTRACTOR TO PROTECT UTILITY MAINS, MANHOLES, CLEANOUTS, VALVE BOXES, AND FIRE HYDRANTS, ETC. IN THE AREA OF DEMOLITION.
19. THE CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR COMPLIANCE WITH FEDERAL, STATE, AND LOCAL REGULATIONS REGARDING TRENCH SAFETY.
20. BARRICADING AND PROJECT SIGNS SHALL CONFORM TO TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION MANUAL ON UNIFORM TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES AND LATEST
UPDATES.
21. CONTRACTOR SHALL MAINTAIN EXISTING PAVEMENT AND ACCESS TO FIRE HYDRANTS ON SITE UNTIL THE BUILDINGS AND STRUCTURES IN THAT AREA HAVE BEEN
DEMOLISHED AND REMOVED.
22. CONTRACTOR WILL PROVIDE ON-SITE PARKING FOR WORKERS. VEHICLE PARKING WILL NOT BE ALLOWED WITHIN THE PUBLIC RIGHT-OF-WAY.
23. CONTRACTOR WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR IMPLEMENTING AND MAINTAINING ADEQUATE DUST CONTROL MEASURES DURING DEMOLITION ACTIVITIES.
24. CONTRACTOR IS TO COORDINATE DEMOLITION ACTIVITIES WITH THE HAZARDOUS MATERIAL ABATEMENT CONTRACTORS' ACTIVITIES, IF APPLICABLE.
25. THE CONTRACTOR WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR OBTAINING TEMPORARY UTILITY SERVICES REQUIRED TO COMPLETE THE SCOPE OF WORK.
DEMOLITION GENERAL NOTES: GRADING & DRAINAGE GENERAL NOTES
1. UNLESS NOTED, FILL IS TO BE COMPACTED TO A MINIMUM OF 95% STANDARD PROCTOR DENSITY WITHIN 3% OF OPTIMUM MOISTURE CONTENT. FILL TO BE PLACED IN
MAXIMUM LIFTS OF 6 INCHES.
2. SIDEWALKS AND ACCESSIBLE ROUTES SHALL HAVE A RUNNING SLOPE NO GREATER THAN 5% (UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED) AND A CROSS SLOPE NO GREATER THAN 2%.
3. GRADING OF HANDICAPPED SPACES AND ROUTES TO CONFORM TO FEDERAL, STATE, AND LOCAL GUIDELINES.
4. PROPOSED AND EXISTING GRADES IN NON-PAVED AREAS ARE "FINISHED GRADE" (i.e. IN LANDSCAPE BEDS, TOP OF MULCH/BEDDING MATERIAL).
5. FINAL PAVING, CURB, AND SIDEWALK ELEVATIONS WILL BE PLACED AT PLUS OR MINUS 0.03 FOOT.
6. REFER TO LANDSCAPE SPECIFICATIONS FOR SEEDING AND SODDING REQUIREMENTS.
7. ANY CONCRETE, ROCK, OR MATERIAL DEEMED BY THE OWNER'S AUTHORIZED REPRESENTATIVE TO BE UNSUITABLE FOR SUBGRADE SHALL BE DISPOSED OF OFFSITE AT
CONTRACTOR'S EXPENSE.
8. TRENCH BACKFILL MATERIAL SHALL CONFORM TO THE REQUIREMENTS OF CITY OF ABILENE AND SHALL BE MECHANICALLY COMPACTED IN 6-INCH LIFTS TO THE TOP OF
SUBGRADE TO A MINIMUM OF 95% STANDARD PROCTOR DENSITY IN ACCORDANCE WITH CITY OF ABILENE UNLESS OTHERWISE SHOWN ON THESE PLANS OR STATED IN
THE STANDARD CITY SPECIFICATIONS.
9. EMBEDMENT SHALL CONFORM TO THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE CITY OF ABILENE UNLESS OTHERWISE SHOWN ON THESE PLANS OR STATED IN THE STANDARD CITY
SPECIFICATIONS.
10. CRUSHED STONE BEDDING OR APPROVED EQUAL SHALL BE PROVIDED BY THE CONTRACTOR WHEN ROCK IS ENCOUNTERED IN TRENCHES. THERE SHALL BE NO
ADDITIONAL PAY ITEM FOR CRUSHED STONE BEDDING.
11. IF REQUIRED DUE TO CONSTRUCTION, POWER POLES TO BE BRACED OR RELOCATED AT CONTRACTOR'S EXPENSE.
12. EXISTING UTILITIES AND STRUCTURES TO BE ADJUSTED TO FINISH GRADE OR RELOCATED.
SYMBOLS LEGEND:
1. THESE DRAWINGS ARE SUBMITTED TO THE OWNER OF THE PROJECT FOR REVIEW AND APPROVAL PRIOR TO ANY RELEASE FOR BIDDING AND/OR CONSTRUCTION.
CONTRACTORS SHALL RECEIVE BID INFORMATION, INSTRUCTIONS, BID FORMS, GENERAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS, AND OTHER REQUIRED CLARIFICATION FROM THE

THE DRAWINGS OR PROJECT SPECIFICATION, THE MATTER SHALL BE IMMEDIATELY SUBMITTED TO THE OWNER'S REPRESENTATIVE; WITHOUT THEIR DECISION, SAID
DISCREPANCY SHALL NOT BE ADJUSTED BY THE CONTRACTOR, SAVE ONLY AT THEIR OWN RISK AND EXPENSES. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL NOT TAKE ADVANTAGE
OF ANY APPARENT ERROR OR OMISSION ON THE DRAWINGS OR IN THE SPECIFICATIONS. IN THE EVENT THE CONTRACTOR DISCOVERS SUCH ERROR OR OMISSION,
THEY SHALL IMMEDIATELY NOTIFY THE OWNER'S REPRESENTATIVE WITH FOLLOW-UP WRITTEN NOTICE. THE OWNER'S REPRESENTATIVE WILL THEN MAKE SUCH
CLARIFICATION AND INTERPRETATIONS AS MAY BE DEEMED NECESSARY FOR THE CONTRACTOR TO FULFILL THE INTENT OF THE CONTRACT.
3. THE "INTENT" OF THESE IMPROVEMENT DRAWINGS, DETAILS, AND ASSOCIATED SPECIFICATIONS IS THAT THE CONTRACTOR PROVIDES THE OWNER WITH A
COMPLETE, ACCURATE, FUNCTIONALLY AND TECHNICALLY SOUND PROJECT AS GENERALLY DESCRIBED IN THE DOCUMENTS. ELEMENTS SHOWN OR IMPLIED BY
THE DRAWINGS, IF NOT SPECIFICALLY DETAILED OR SPECIFIED, SHALL BE INSTALLED PER UNIFORM BUILDING CODES, MANUFACTURER'S RECOMMENDATIONS,
STANDARD INDUSTRY PRACTICES, AND/OR AS APPROVED BY THE OWNER'S REPRESENTATIVE.
4. WORK OF THIS PROJECT SHALL CONFORM TO THE CURRENT CITY OF ABILENE CODES, ORDINANCES, STANDARDS AND SPECIFICATIONS FOR CONSTRUCTION OF
IMPROVEMENTS, AS WELL AS OTHER APPLICABLE GOVERNING REGULATIONS IN EFFECT. CONSTRUCTION WITHIN TxDOT RIGHT OF WAY SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE
TO TxDOT STANDARDS (SEE ATTACHED PLANS AND DETAILS).
5. RANGE POINTS, TIES, BENCHMARKS, OR OTHER SURVEY CONTROL POINTS WHICH MAY BE ENCOUNTERED DURING CONSTRUCTION MUST BE PRESERVED, MODIFIED,
OR RECORDED BY A REGISTERED SURVEYOR AT THE CONTRACTOR'S EXPENSE. IMMEDIATELY UPON DISCOVERY, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL NOTIFY THE OWNER'S
REPRESENTATIVE OF ANY SURVEY CONTROL POINTS FOUND AND OBTAIN DIRECTION PRIOR TO PROCEEDING WITH CONSTRUCTION.
6. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL OBTAIN, AT THEIR EXPENSE, PERMITS WHICH ARE NECESSARY TO PERFORM THE PROPOSED WORK UNLESS EXPLICITLY NOTIFIED
OTHERWISE IN THE CONTRACT DOCUMENTS, AND SHALL COMPLY WITH NOTIFICATION AND INSPECTION REQUIREMENTS.
7. UNLESS SPECIFICALLY NOTED OTHERWISE, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL OBTAIN, AT THEIR EXPENSE, TECHNICAL TESTS AND REPORTS BY A CERTIFIED, INDEPENDENT
LABORATORY OR AGENCY.
8. AN EXISTING CONDITION SURVEY HAS BEEN PROVIDED TO THE OWNER BY REGISTERED SURVEYORS FOR THE BASIS OF DESIGN. IT IS NOT TO BE CONSIDERED AS
PART OF THESE DOCUMENTS. THE SURVEY PLANS HAVE BEEN REFORMATTED AND INCLUDED IN THIS SET FOR GENERAL INFORMATION ONLY AND INTENDED TO
ASSIST THE CONTRACTOR IN THE GENERAL ORIENTATION OF THE SITE. THE CONTRACTOR IS REQUIRED TO VISIT THE SITE, VERIFY INFORMATION, CONDUCT ANY
EXPLORATORY RESEARCH, AND BECOME THOROUGHLY FAMILIAR WITH EXISTING CONDITIONS AS A PRE-REQUISITE OF THEIR BID SUBMITTAL. WITHOUT EXCEPTION,
ANY DEVIATIONS OR OMISSIONS FOUND BETWEEN THESE PLANS AND EXISTING SITE CONDITIONS SHALL IMMEDIATELY BE BROUGHT TO THE ATTENTION OF THE
OWNER'S REPRESENTATIVE, BUT WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED AS BASIS FOR ADDITIONAL PAYMENT. FOR 'OFFICIAL' SURVEY INFORMATION, CONTRACTOR MAY WISH
TO CONTACT THE SURVEYOR AS A SEPARATE AGREEMENT.
9. EXISTING (OR PROPOSED BY OTHERS) UTILITY INFORMATION SHOWN IS APPROXIMATE ONLY AND FOR GENERAL INFORMATION ONLY. IT IS NOT INTENDED TO
DEPICT EXACT LOCATIONS. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL NOTIFY UTILITY COMPANIES TO STAKE AND FIELD VERIFY THE LOCATIONS, INCLUDING DEPTHS, OF EXISTING
UTILITIES , PROPOSED BY OTHERS, OR CURRENTLY UNDER CONSTRUCTION, PRIOR TO COMMENCING ANY RELATED OPERATIONS. CONTRACTOR SHALL MAINTAIN

UTILITIES IMPACTS PRIOR TO SUBMITTING BID AND SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY MODIFICATIONS OR DAMAGES TO UTILITY LINES, STRUCTURES, OR INJURIES
THERE FROM.
10. THESE DRAWINGS DO NOT SPECIFY SAFETY MATERIALS, STAFFING, EQUIPMENT, METHODS, OR SEQUENCING TO PROTECT PERSONS AND PROPERTY. IT SHALL BE
THE CONTRACTOR'S SOLE RESPONSIBILITY TO DIRECT AND IMPLEMENT SAFETY OPERATIONS, STAFFING, PROCEDURES TO PROTECT THE OWNER AND HIS
REPRESENTATIVES, NEW IMPROVEMENTS, PROPERTY, OTHER CONTRACTORS, THE PUBLIC AND OTHERS.
11. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL MEET PERIODICALLY WITH THE OWNER'S REPRESENTATIVE TO DETERMINE MARSHALLING AREAS, ON-SITE STORAGE, CONTRACTOR STAFF
PARKING, SECURITY ISSUES, CONSTRUCTION SEQUENCING AND/OR PHASING, SCHEDULING, AND MAINTAINING PUBLIC, EMERGENCY, HANDICAPPED, OR
OPERATIONS ACCESS BEFORE STARTING THE RELATED WORK.
12. SOME OF THE WORK OF THIS CONTRACT MAY OCCUR CONCURRENT WITH WORK BY OTHERS. PHASING, SEQUENCING AND COORDINATION, WITH WORK BY
OTHERS, AND ON-GOING OPERATIONS IN AND AROUND THE SITE AREA IS A PART OF THE CONTRACTOR'S RESPONSIBILITY.
13. THE CONTRACTOR WILL BE REQUIRED TO COMPLETE THE WORK OF THIS PROJECT ACCORDING TO THESE PROPOSED DRAWINGS OR SUBSEQUENT CLARIFICATION. A
STRICT PERIOD OF PERFORMANCE, INCLUDING DATES OF SUBSTANTIAL COMPLETION (FOR ALL AND/OR PORTIONS) AND LIQUIDATION DAMAGES MAY BE AN
INTEGRAL ELEMENT OF THE CONTRACT.
14. ANY SITE IMPROVEMENTS REQUIRING REMOVAL UNDER THIS CONTRACT SHALL BE PROPERLY AND LEGALLY DISPOSED OFF-SITE OR, AT THE OWNER'S OPTION,
SURRENDERED AND/OR STOCKPILED IN AN APPROVED ON-SITE LOCATION PER THE DIRECTION OF THE OWNER'S REPRESENTATIVE.
15. THE CONTRACTOR IS REQUIRED TO MAINTAIN A COMPLETE AND 'UP-TO-DATE' SET OF CONTRACT DOCUMENTS, INCLUDING CLARIFICATIONS, CHANGE ORDERS, ETC.
IN GOOD CONDITION, AT THE CONSTRUCTION SITE AT ALL TIMES. THIS SET OF DOCUMENTS WILL BE MADE IMMEDIATELY AVAILABLE FOR REVIEW BY THE OWNER'S
REPRESENTATIVE AND/OR AUTHORIZED CONSULTANTS UPON REQUEST.
16. CONTRACTOR SHALL REFER TO CIVIL/MEP ENGINEERING DRAWINGS AND SPECIFICATIONS, AS NECESSARY, FOR ROADWAYS, UTILITY, DRAINAGE AND OTHER
RELATED IMPROVEMENTS THAT WILL IMPACT THIS PROJECT AND REQUIRE COORDINATION.
GENERAL NOTES: PAVING GENERAL NOTES
